Rodeo

  • 86,000 miles
The contact owns a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo. The contact stated while driving 35 mph the contact heard a squeaking noise coming from the rear passenger side of the vehicle. The contact looked underneath the vehicle and notice the frame has a significant amount of rust. The contact stated their is nothing holding the frame to the vehicle. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the rust on the frame and the manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was not under warranty so their was nothing they could do. A local mechanic informed the contact that the frame was un-repairable. The failure mileage was 86,000.

Went for an annual inspection sticker and was told the frame was rusted along with other related rusting repairs. Went to an autobody shop to see if the car could be repaired. Was told that the car is beyond repair. The frame is rusted beyond repair and the gas tank is one bump away from falling off.

While driving on dry pavement approx.20 mph vehicle abruptly swerved left with acceleration then swerved right with deceleration and almost rolled over. Upon investigation the left trailing arm was found to be unattached to the frame due to severe corrosion. Further investigation revealed multiple areas of severe frame rot and the vehicle is not repairable.

The Rodeo was driven approximately 50 miles and started to feel strange shortly before arriving at the destination. A family member took it for a ride trying to determine what the issue was. While driving, he heard a loud noise and the Rodeo hopped. He was able to get it off to the shoulder in time to avoid a rear end collision by a tractor trailer behind him. The vehicle was towed and we have had the frame welded (~$800), but have no confidence in its safety and have since bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee. We are not aware of our options and would be helpful for any guidance.

My truck was driving perfect, and with no warning one day while driving down road heard noise coming from rear driver side wheel. My steering wheel, and rear end became loose. I lost control, but managed to pull over safely. At that point my truck was undriveable. Had truck towed to repair shop, and after a detailed inspection of the problem it was determined that the rear left control bar had broken off with part of frame attached with it. The damaged could not be repaired due to extensive rust on frame. Was told problem is very common with this truck, and many complaints have been made to manufacturer, but Isuzu has failed to acknowledge this serious problem. Many peoples lives are in danger.

Returning home from work, stopped at intersection, when my turn to go I pulled out on road and noticed that vehicle felt like I had a flat tire. Steering was very strange and felt like vehicle was all over road. I was only going approximately 10-15 mph maximum as I was going from stop light to stop light. When I accelerated from initial stop light I heard a crack and loud scraping sound. I went approx 1/10 mile till I could pull off road on shoulder then into parking lot. When I got out to see if I could see anything wrong I noticed under car in front of rear wheels that what appeared to be stabilizer bars for rear wheels were hanging down under car and that the frame on both sides was broken in half. I had no previous indication that this was breaking. I fear that if I had been traveling at a higher rate of speed other than going from stop light to stop light that I would have lost control of the vehicle. The entire rear axle would float freely and twist from side to side when attempting to accelerate and rear wheels would ride out from under vehicle and when braking rear wheels rode up under vehicle. This vehicle is no longer drivable and is basically a complete loss and is not covered under any type of motor vehicle insurance coverage due to no accident involvement.

I am the owner of a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo. Recently my wife went to school to pick up our kids at school, on her way home she said she felt like she had a flat tire. After pulling over in a parking lot and investigating the car and saw the tires inflated, she called me work to inform me she unsure if she should continue to drive home and felt there was something seriously wrong with the car. Since she was only a mile from our home I told her to put the hazards on and nurse the car to the house. (which she did) when I got home I looked over the car and noticed that both the lower links (bars from the frame to the rear end) were both rotted at the frame connection. The vehicle cannot be repaired due to rotted frame.

2001 Isuzu Rodeo. The rear passenger side stabilizer link/bar rotted off the frame while in motion. The vehicle had passed the MA. State inspection in September of 2009. There was no prior notice to this defect at all. When the vehicle hot a pothole the bar and about 10 inches of the frame came away from the vehicle and dropped causing the rear pass tire to move toward the back of the vehicle. This vehicle was purchased new in April of 2002 and I am the original owner. The vehicle has always been driven in MA. To and from work. In my opinion this vehicle is a time bomb for owners that are not aware of the potential problem with the frame rot. It should be forced to be addressed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration U.S department of transportation and the Office Of Defects Investigation. I called Isuzu and they told me that there was nothing they could do. Nothing. This car should have lasted more than 7.6 years at the price tag of $32,000 excluding finance charges.

2001 Isuzu Rodeo rear suspension on passenger side let go due to a rotted frame. Called Isuzu corporate and they told me there was nothing they could do about it. I bought this car brand new in April of 2002, and would have hoped that for 32,000 the shelf life would be more than 7.6 years.

The integrity of the entire rear section of our 2001 Isuzu Rodeo has been compromised by severe corrosion. Both the right and left rear frame rail sections, to which the traction bars are attached, are so rusted and rotted out that the traction bars are in danger of detaching from the frame rails! the gas tank support is also rotted through and, essentially, the entire rear frame section of the vehicle has been seriously destroyed by this corrosion. It is full of holes and cracks and is literally disintegrating. The exterior of the vehicle, however, is in excellent condition, as well as the engine and transmission. We are the original owners of this Rodeo and have faithfully maintained it since we purchased it in April 2001, yet the vehicle is now unsafe and no longer drivable! this corrosion is obviously the result of a manufacturing defect that has created a serious safety issue and warrants a recall. Does someone have to be injured or die before Isuzu or Honda will act responsibly and take action?

I bought a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo in 2001. I was detailing my SUV and noticed that the left rear trailing arm bracket that is welded to the vehicle frame has rusted a long gate hole through the frame. I took it to the dealership where I purchased it from and was told that this vehicle is unsafe to drive. The dealership and myself called Isuzu customer service and was told they would not do anything to help me. This vehicle is immaculate. It is time that the public knows abut this problem, because it is a safety issue to those who drive Rodeos and passports, and the other drivers on the road. Please tell me what my options are. I am out of a perfectly nice vehicle other than frame. I cannot even trade this vehicle in.

Rodeo

  • 143,353 miles
The car was driven away from a gas station, and with no warning, it began to weave all over the road. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the driver's side control arm separated from the frame, due to serious rust. The control arm attaches to the rear axle, and is welded to the lower side of the frame in front of the rear wheel. The corrosion was so severe at that point, that the bracket separated from the frame. This causes the rear axle to move, resulting in the car steering with the rear wheels. This condition makes it extremely difficult to control the car. The car was towed home. A few weeks later, it was towed to a body shop for an estimate. The owner inspected the car, and said that it would be difficult to repair, and estimated the cost at $3,200. The car has not been repaired, and is not drivable. I purchased this car new in 2001, and have always garaged it and maintained it properly. The body, drivetrain, and interior are in excellent condition, but the car is sitting in the driveway, because it is unsafe, and I cannot afford to repair it at this point.

2001 Isuzu Rodeo- 109,000 miles. Driving in town, Rodeo felt unstable. Passenger side stabilizer bar undercarriage rusted through and broke. Lucky to get home safely. The vehicle is undrivable, not road safe. Opened a case with Isuzu but not confident in their concern. Other than the rusted frame, truck is in great shape. Government needs to push for a recall or compensation.
