We first noticed a small puddle of red liquid directly under the engine after it was parked in the garage overnight. We checked all reservoirs and all were full, so we took to mechanic for a check. Turns out, the leak is from the coolant system. A bad gasket was building up pressure while driving and then after it's parked, it releases that pressure leaving a small puddle of coolant on the ground. Mechanic said the water pump was damaged as well due to the build-up and release over and over and needed replacing. The thermostat housing also needed replacing as a result. Total cost of repairs was $808.43 after parts, labor, & tax, but an extended warranty paid $430.54 so we only paid $377.89.
