There is a common throttle body failure in 2002 Jaguar. When this failure occurs, the car goes into "fail safe" mode and reduces speed to 30 mph, creating a hazard on highways with limited access. Investigation has revealed that this is a common failure of an non-wear component, and represents a factory defect and a safety issue.
