Have not made the repair yet. Fairly common issue with this vintage (2005) XK8. Just that it's an inconvenience to fix by oneself. I think the dealer might charge about $160 -$200 per seat to fix.
The fix is simple, but one must use marine grade (sticky inside) heat shrink tubing that I found only available on the web. I bought a selection of different sizes. Go to www.jaguarforums.com, search headrest repair & look for a link posted to a U-Tube Video showing how it's to be done. Apparently it can be done in a half hour or so ????? ...per seat.
