Cherokee 6-cyl

  • 124,260 miles
Traveling East on hwy 76 just outside julesburg, co, my right rear tire sidewall blew out at 75mph. Tire pressures were at 35 psi on all tires before trip a few days earlier. Tires have about 20,000 miles on them and have about 45% remaining tread. Blowout pattern was a near perfect circle where the sidewall meets the tread area of the tire. Damage to vehicle consisted of bent rear quarter panel.

Had 2 side wall blowouts with a 3rd tire bulging at the side. I had to pay for the first tire because nothing was suspected to be wrong, then the tires kept blowing out and the 3rd tire was caught before the blow out occurred. Good year was contacted and they replaced 3 tires but refused to reimburse for the first tire that we paid for. I feel someone needs to look into these tires before someone ends up getting killed. Right front tire suddenly and instantaneously lost all air pressure while driving interstate 95 North in md approaching de border. I quickly lost steering and braking control, and was nearly struck by a tractor trailor at full speed. Luck alone got my wife and I to the side of the road without being involved in an accident. I have made initial contacts with the car dealership, and with a Goodyear tire and rubber service center (reisterstown, md). Both the dealership and the Goodyear service center displayed reluctance to replace my tire at no charge. I don't believe I can get an honest evaluation of my blown tire, as they are both financially biased. (tiresize: P225/75R15)( dot number: Tire size: P225/75R15 )

Goodyear said nothing could be done and it wasn't their fault. Failure resulted in damage to vehicle. (tiresize: P225/75R16)( dot number: Tire size: P225/75R16 )
