I own a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4X4 it has 116,000 miles on it. I have a problem with my fan just stopping and the engine overheating. I have a the fan relay replaced 3 times in the last 3 years and the fan replaced one time. I did not receive and recall on this matter.

Vehicle began to vibrate violently followed by a loud bang. There was smoke coming from the engine compartment. After shutting down the engine I found the plastic fan blades from the electric cooling fan had broken apart and were jammed into the fan pulley. I understand that there is a recall for the 2000 Grand Cherokee model for the same problem. Why is it limited to that model when evidently it is happening to other 2000 model Jeep such as mine a 2000 Jeep Cherokee classic. The recall for the other model is virtually the same problem that I have experienced. Why the limit ?

Upon visual inspection, it was discovered the fan had broken causing the fan cover to fracture. Pieces of the fan lodged in the engine and shroud.
