The contact owns a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator was consistently illuminated. The failure recurred each time the vehicle was started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: (air bags) and 15V046000 (air bags) however, the parts needed to do the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

Air bag warning light is staying on all the time. I'm concerned the airbags will go off unnecessarily or will not work when they are needed to. This warning light has been on for a long time. I'm just not sure of the date I first noticed it.

Airbag warning light and chime goes off constantly.
- Marietta, GA, USA
Air bag light on (don't know if it will work if needed), horn won't work, cruise control wont work = clockspring. Safety issue. No horn no airbag.
- Bakersfield, CA, USA
Air bag light started to come on and off intermittently. On the second day it came on and stayed on. On the second day I also noticed no horn and no cruise control. All indications are that it is the clock spring. Emailed Chrysler to see if it was a recall or safety covered item. They stated no that the entire cost to replace it will be mine $300 plus dollars. From my understanding Chrysler is having problems with a lot of clock springs. I feel they should cover this item as it is not an item that should fail that easily.

2000 Jeep Cherokee sport airbag warning light illuminates randomly and repeatedly. Not related to actual airbag deployment. It may render airbag unusable. Dangerous condition. Common consumer complaint. All passenger window actuator switches are unusable. Windows will only work at driver panel. Safety issue if passengers have to open windows.very common consumer complaint. Obd error codes are inaccurate (especially when applying to emission control systems P0441, P0442). Diagnosis often lead to unneeded repairs and costly replacement of sensors and computer without cause. Common consumer complaint. Driver seat support structure breaks. Even when driven only in ordinary driving conditions and not stressed unusually. Must be rewelded or replaced. Seat is no longer structurally safe. Common consumer complaint all of these are design issues and not service/maintenance related.

- Plainfield, VT, USA
On July 26, my son had a front impact wreck in his 2000 Jeep Cherokee sport that totaled the car, however neither the driver's side airbag, not the passenger's side airbag deployed. As a result of this crash, my son, who was driving hit his head on the steering wheel and required 11 stiches and my other son, who was the passenger in the car sustained a head injury requiring 8 sticthes as well as numerous impact bruises. Injuries were minimized because both sons were wearing their seatbelts.

The clockspring in my 2000 Jeep Cherokee failed. As a result of this I lost all functions in the steering wheel. Including a operable airbag and horn.
- Woodburn, IN, USA
Airbag light stays on and horn doesn't work.
- Orland Park, IL, USA
I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee sport and the airbag light stays on now. I took it to the dealer and they say I need to pay for a $300 clock spring part to fix it. I checked the computer and seen numerous problems with the Jeep airbags not working. Has there been a recall on them" and if not if there's been so many cases of problems with them not working correctly is there anything being done to protect the consumer" thank you
