My transmission has been jerking during gear shift since I bought the car. On the expressway traveling 75 mph in a high traffic area when my transmission completely quit and would not shift out of neutral. I lost speed rapidly and luckily I was unable to get to the side of the expressway without causing an accident.

2014 Jeep Cherokee transmission jerks. Took it to the dealer and they claim it's working as intended because it's a new technology. This transmission jerks and is very sluggish. I almost had an accident turning left at a busy intersection. The car did not want to accelerate. Luckily incoming traffic slowed down enough for me to pass. I fail to believe that this is normal and also fail to believe that there's nothing the dealer can do. Apparently there are thousands of other Cherokee owners with the same problem. Add me to the list. Any suggestions on what else I can do?

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The dealer diagnosed that the valve wiring body harness and transaxle wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was brought back to the dealer where updates were done to the transmission and power train control modules, but the failure persisted. The contact stated that the failure recurred on several occasions intermittently. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000.

The contact lost control of the vehicle and ended up in a ditch on the side of the road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. On October 10, 2016, I was driving on an access road next to a highway when my car lost motive power. I was driving at approximately 40mph and I did not have enough time to pull over from the lane I was in. My dashboard kept flashing "service transmission" and also to "put the car in park and re-start." For ten minutes, I attempted to re-start the vehicle and begin driving again. Each time I would try to put the car in drive, there was a very loud racket sound from shifting and I had to put the car back in park. Finally, on the sixth attempt, I was able to shift into drive without the sound and I immediately drove my car home. I am disheartened as this was a purchase of a used vehicle only a few days prior, on October 8, 2016, that had only 30,000 miles. Needless to say, my car is already at my local Jeep dealership for repair, and not much reassurance with regards to the associated recall, as parts are not ready yet. This was intended to be a family vehicle, but if it stops while driving, it will render my family completely unsafe. The S55 recall concerns a poorly designed wiring harness, that causes the computer to shift the vehicle into neutral while driving. Car randomly stops moving while driving, sometimes while turning a corner. Seems like it turns itself off, but lights on dash are still on. I'm not really sure what causes it and am hoping that it will be resolved once they have a solution to the current recall for the transaxle wire harness. Have brought it to dealer a few times and they keep telling us it has to do with the 20% oil life. I don't see how that would make a car turn off. And why would they make a car that needs to have the oil changed before the oil life is up or at all.

Driving at full speed on the highway the transmission suddenly disengaged, which led to redlining the rpms, because it failed to give me any control of throttle/acceleration. I had to get over and coast to the side of the road. The "service transmission" note came on the screen as well as check engine light. The transmission slammed a few times as if it were unable to find its gear. I have it at a dealership now, apparently being told flashing it may fix the issue...however, that doesn't make me feel better with how the vehicle acted or if any damage occurred due to this "computer" issue. This is our family vehicle, so having some major doubts right now.

Same transmission problem been to get fixed 4 times now waiting on a recall wiring harness that is out yet. Car has been at dealer shop more then I have drove it. Jeep stalls in traffic hard to get started back. Then some times if just goes into neutral while driving but most of time it won't shift right and won't go over 25 when this happen. It good when on interstate my wife wont drive it now cause she do T feel safe after it stalled in the middle of the road mutable times.

Transmission skips gears and sometimes is extremely slow to start getting the car going (acceleration) (every road including when you are stationary. The body of the car continuously shakes if you are driving on a smooth road (like you can hear the body of the car (highway, city, straight and turning) when backing up, the car will break immediatley if there is nothing in the way causing a serious safety hazard. (backing up, or driving in the city it will break and I can't override the system making it very easy for someone to rear end you) this vehicle needs to be deemed unsafe to drive and recalled.

I have had my vehicle in every 5000 miles complaining of "hard" transmission shifts, and the vehicle lunging forward when applying brakes to stop the vehicle. Transmission does not react when you are at a stop and apply the gas, motor on the vehicle will rev up and then eventually the transmission will kick in. I have had the vehicle into (3) different mopar dealers and all of them give me some song and dance about "updates" the updates are done and the vehicle still does not shift correctly. This vehicle is going to kill someone because of the transmission lunging forward when you are coming to a stop.

Within days I noticed issues with the transmission. 1st, 2nd, & 3rd gear can be very jerky.sometimes 1st gear holds 5-8 seconds before shifting. Some jerking is violent. Also declining steep highway mountain roads is an issue at times. When braking at start of decline RPM's jump by 2000 rpms & car seems to thrust forward. It's like it doesn't know what to do. It is very unsettling

The car activated the following warning lights: Parking brake, service engine, stability control, and the monitor displayed service transmission. The car fails to accelerate while driving. It will downshift hard and then feel as if I am gliding along. Warning lights have come on while driving and then go off when pull over to stop. It has totally stopped working on two occasions-no power-then magically starts again. The transmission has already been replaced once and it still has the same problems. It has become a safety issue as I never know if it will accelerate in traffic. The dealer has been told several times. Now there is a recall and the remedy is not yet available. It is very scary to drive.
