Car while running or driving just stalls for no reason. All electrical goes out as well. Also might just not start - essentially dead. Open front door and close it and the car starts again. It happens intermittently over the last 3 months. Mechanics are all over the place on the cause.

The parking brake engaged by itselt and would not release. After towing the vehicle to a local mechanic (Jeep is an hour away), the mechanic said the module has a plastic covering that is not water proof and condensation caused the module to fail. We had to replace the plastic covering with a rubber covering that would keep water out of the module. The costs of this are going to be upward of $1000. I hope Jeep covers defective parts. Apparently there is a service bulletin on this issue but no recall

Vehicle shuts off with all lights flashing if I don't change oil before 2000 miles. This happened to me the first year I had the car and I was almost killed on the parkway. Burke auto said it was a software update. Then it happened four days later I was able to get it to the dealership right down the road that I live but couldn't go over 15 mph and it shut off twice in two miles. Then when I got the car there it happened to one of the technicians and scared the crap out of him and he said he wouldn't drive this car. But no one did nothing.. now today I almost was in a accident at the food store because the transmission wouldn't stop and then the whole car stopped. It was brought to burke auto group on stone harbor blvd. Cape may courthouse NJ as they told me today they can't get to it and it's going to cost $$$$ then they let me walk home in the rain. I have had Jeep before and they are great cars but this one is going to kill me. Please help with this matter sense I can't get no help here. The car is at burke motor group in cape may courthouse. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

There is a warning saying service shifter that stays lit up on my display at all times. I have had all of my recalls done but this warning light stays on and is a neusance. You can not see the digital speedometer nor anything digital for that matter. First noticed it a few weeks after I bought the car. As soon as you turn the car on the light just stays on. The recalls should have fixed this but it did not. Very beautiful car but having several issues with it that a lot of people are having same issues when researching the internet. Need this fixed asap. Cost too much money to have this many issues. Very disappointed and will issue a class action suite if no response. Also lift gate won't lock. But that's on another claim that I issued to you.

The lift gate latch will not lock. It is a safety concern because I'm having to drive it while the rear gate is not secured. My battery died because the warning light for the lift gate would not go off. When this first happened the car was running but in park. The lift gate was opened and never locked since.

Upon fueling the vehicle, the vehicle operates as it is intended to for a brief moment, until idling on the roads. The vehicle will suddenly drop in rpms, and if it gets far enough, the vehicle stalls, directs me to shift to park, and press the start button. In some cases, the vehicle will start right back up, but with some trouble, or not at all. Vehicle becomes a metallic vegetable and starts emitting a rich smell of petrol. This issue does not occur when constantly driving at higher speeds or after the vehicle has driven 50 miles after fueling.

1) the shifter lights came on driving in from town to my house, appx. 10 miles, took a picture of all the lights on on the shifter. 1-5-2021. Wife turn off and on at home and lights didn't light up after they reset. Have not taken in to dealer as OF1-6-2021. 2) the dome lights stop working, all of them, took it in to dealer, they said the driver visor has a short so as long as I leave the fuse to the driver side visor off the rest of the light would work, new visor cost over $500 so I opted to wait till I could afford it, I have the bumper to bumper extended warranty, paid extra $4500 as long as I owe the darn thing I thought it would fix thing like this, no it does not. There is a recall on the visor wiring issue but mine was not covered. 2 month later dome lights ho out again"? call dealer and tell about it, say replace the left side visor fuse, tried it blows out, call again, they tell don't replace fuse any more?" left with no dome lightfor now. 3) transmission shifting issue in mountains, going uphill, had to pull over to slowly restart the shifting process, mine you this was a replacement transmission covered by warranty, this incident issued only once and starting shifting ok, didn't take to dealer, almost like what for, they won't do nothing but reset. In conclusion if I could return and get some return on it I would, even at a loss mostly likely trading in for a Honda.too dangerous for my wife to drive. Never again no Chrysler products.Jeep was a very big disappointment.

Constant transmission issues/ jerks and hard thrusts. Been in Jeep dealership many times with complaint. Same issues now out of warranty. Now as of Dec 25 2020, vehicle went completely dead, came back on and now throws all service lights on dash and vehicle will not move out of gear. Have to disconnect battery to put into park/neutral to move out of way. Undriveable. This 2014 lattitude has been a nightmare and an unsafe vehicle from the beginning. Unfortunately I was upside down on finance or it would have been gone. Now with it almost being paid off I am in financial ruin over this once again. Unsafe vehicle.

2014 Jeep Cherokee latitude 4 cylinder, battery went completely dead then came back in a hour, then shift (zf 9 speed transmission) got stuck in neutral. The only way to turn off the engine was to disconnect the battery seeing it was the weekend. Today 12/3/20, told that Jeep dealership software fixed the software issue, but I was told that I must have broken the shift while trying to get it into gear (not true) and must pay $300 for the diagnostic besides the entire HVAC system had to be replaced (which meant "no heat" in the car or venting which was already broken before incident but we had not needed any heat. When the car gear stuck, the vehicle was not in motion and I could not shut the engine off so the battery had to be disconnected. So cost of diagnostic, new shift entirely, and new HVAC system and the car does not have 100,000 miles yet. Consumer stated dealership is currently waiting for new shift to replace the broken one.

Driving the car the engine light and traction light would come on and the steering wheel would lock in position, moving straight or turning. Happened several times between servicing. Several codes came up and were addressed but did not fix the problem. Codes were U0131, U0418, U0131-87, U0415 and U0428. No issue until car was serviced for the latest recall. Car with dealer. Say it's a complete electrical system repair. Not once have I had an issue with my car in 4yrs until dealer serviced it for steering wheel recall.

I have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee trailhawk I started my car today and I have a "park brake service" message my parking brake is stuck and I can release it. After inspection I found my trunk full of water and found my brake control module full of water and corrode it. I call the dealer and they said they never heard about any issues like this and there is not recall for this issue, after checking online looks like is a common problem for this car models and I cant believe is not a recall for water getting into your Jeep Cherokee trunk. This is a major safety hazard for drivers because this can happen even when you driving your car in the middle of the highway. I hope NHTSA look into this safety issue and have it resolve with Jeep.

This is the second incident since purchasing the vehicle new in 2014. Less than a year after purchase the transmission had to be replaced. This incident the Jeep lost all power and would not go into either drive or park creating an extremely unsafe situation. Was told it had to do with a recall and needed a new pcu. That was two months ago! I am still without my Jeep and have now been told it needs another new transmission.

In the past few months every time I go turn on the car, it seems as uf the the struggles to start. So, when I turn the key to the middle position then turn it hard over, the car will start. If may take one time or several times to get the car started. Not battery because windows roll down, radio comes on, and so on. As of today it seem there is no connection happening.

Cherokee

  • 42,369 miles
The warning light came on multiple times (first day 10/4/2019 driving locally), regarding servicing the transmission, brake and airbag after starting and in a non-moving mode. On the second day of ownership 10/5/2019, I took it to the closest Jeep dealership to have them check on the warning light. The tech advisor gave me a print out of all the error codes showing (quite a few). On the sixth day 10-10-2019, I only had driven it locally when the transmission slipped out of the drive gear when I was at a stop sign. The drive transmission wasn't engaging when I pressed the gas pedal. I put it in 'park' and then back into 'drive', and it then went forward. I drove home, and I parked the Jeep in my yard. I didn't drive it again with a real concern that the Jeep wasn't safe to drive and not wanting to get stranded along a road somewhere. In 11/2019, I next drove the Jeep in my attempt to get it to the dealership service department to have the diagnostics done to find out the exact issues. The transmission did the same thing and slipped out of 'drive' in busy stop and go traffic in route on a 5 lane highway at a traffic light after stopping and giving gas to move forward. This time it took four attempts (placing in park and then drive) before the Jeep would drive forward. I made it to the dealership on a prayer five minutes further down the road. The final diagnosis (12/18-2019) was that the Jeep needs a transmission/engine wiring harness. 'there is a brake in the transmission control module circuit for communication and depending on how the engine flex's, the communication line drops out and causes the tcm to go offline'. on 4/12/2020, I took photos of the code flashing (see attached images). It wouldn't start. One week later, it started and I drove it in my yard to park it farther out of my main driveway. There it has sat for a few months.

While driving on a highway, service shifter warning displayed and all indicator lights were lit (park, neutral, reverse, drive). This caused panic and the driver pulled over to turn off the engine. A dealership diagnosis is short in wiring. This manufacturer defect has caused wrecks and needs to be recalled by Jeep.

2 issues. (1)) transmission doesn't shift properly. Coming from a higher speed and break ie slowing down and then accelerating there is a delay. The Jeep doesn't know what gear to be in. I have been almost rear ended, honked at, swerved around because the Jeep won't speed up properly. (2) gear shifter lights don't function properly. The gear shifter was already replaced once under factory warranty and the same issue has happened again
