The vehicle just stops with no warning while I am driving! the first time was on the NJ turnpike doing 70 mph in the left lane. Started it back up and it did the same thing about 30 minutes later. Took it to Jeep service and they said it was a loose wire. Seemed ok for a few months and then it happened again. Jeep replaced the transmission module. Drove it another few months - happened again and this time they replaced the computer system. This is a very dangerous problem and I was petrified to drive the vehicle. When I complained to Chrysler, all they could do was offer me a cdi code which is a tiny discount on a new Chrysler vehicle. I finally just traded the car in and purchased another vehicle but I lost a lot of money in doing so. This situation is very dangerous and I could have been killed in this vehicle. Let me repeat, this has happened 4 times so below, when you ask "when did this happen" - I am using the date of the last incident.

When parking my car and driving into the space suddenly I had an engine surge. It happened so suddenly. I tried to park it yet again and the same thing happened. This time I received damage to my vehicle when it was stopped by a large light pole. I called triple a and had it brought to the dealership. They put new brakes on the car. I felt secure. The third time I was slowing down due to vehicles in front of me. Suddenly the car surged again. I pulled out of my lane quickly so I would not hit the cars in front of me. Now I was in the oncoming lane. I saw a car horizontal to my car. Brakes did nothing to stop me. I hit her car. It happened so fast. Luckily, the passenger was shaken up and taken to the hospital. This happened on a city St. The vehicle was in the process of turning into the library when the accident happened.

After filling up vehicle with gas (2 separate occurrences), the vehicle will cut-off while driving for 1-2 blocks. A prompt on the dashboard would state "place gear into park" and a restart of vehicle would be necessary. First occurrence happen in 2/19/2018 and 3/28/2018. When first occurrence happened, the vehicle was dropped off at dealership and was instructed by service department the vehicle needed to be "flashed or reprogrammed" to resolve issue. Since then, the second occurrence happened recently 3/28/2018 and it needed to be towed to dealership for another inspection/diagnostic. It was then mentioned by service department, the reason for cut-off issue. The vehicle was low on oil (1 quart less). Major concern with vehicle not being trusted worthy while driving and possible accident may happen because of issue. Also being told 2 different reasons why issue happened.

  • 80,000 miles
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving approximately 55 mph and approaching a red light, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact shifted into park and attempted to restart the vehicle. After five times, the vehicle restarted and then stalled again. The contact stated that the failure occurred every time the oil was low. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the vehicle was consuming a lot more oil than normal. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

2-18-18 in the morning backing out of driveway engine cut offf. 2) 9-12-17 in the daytime on a local town rd. Making a left turn engine cut off. 5-16-17 daytime stopped at a red light on route 17 hwy engine cut off. 6-16-15 daytime going 20 miles an hour engine cut off in the middle of the road local town road. This is happening because the oil level is below a certain level, however the oil is not at a low oil level according to the dipstick. Dealership said we have to check the oil level every time we drive our vehicle. Having many problems with engine/transmission still under warranty but I am not getting any help I was told there is nothing that they can do to help me.

While driving about 60 mph the car lost all acceleration and slowed very quickly, the engine light came on and the assist emergency brake light came on ( I think that was what it said. As I pulled to the road side there was little no rpms. I shut the car off and waited, restarted and still no rpms. I disconnected the battery after googling the problem and restarted and lights where all gone. This was great for about 4 days and maybe 300 miles and again it happened. This time I had my cade reader and received a P1dcd code, I did not clear code but shut engine down and restarted. The car ran with rpms ok but was a bit sluggish. I called dealer when I got home and they said I would have to pay for them to do a diognostic test to figure what the problem is. I drive my kids in the mornings and feel this could lead to a serious accident. I dont feel safe driving it myself let alone my children with me.

I was cleaning my driveway and noticed a huge puddle of oil underneath my 2014 Jeep Cherokee. Upon further inspection I noticed a substantial amount of oil puddled up around the oil cooler assembly. Oil is splashing all over my engine compartment including the exhaust. I'm concerned of a fire starting so I'll have to repair it right away. The complain is simply this: The vehicle is barely 4 years old and has a major problem such as this. It could be a very big safety risk and have read up as it seems to be confined to the year 2014 of similar engine size or type such as 3.2 or 3.6 L V 6 engines.

After having the oil changed on my 2014 Jeep Cherokee a leak developed. When I took it to the a mechanic the oil filter housing was found to be broken. I spoke with the shop who changed the oil, they state they use a special tool that does not allow the cap to be torqued down to tightly as the oil filter housing breakage is a known issue with Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler products.

The car continually stalls out without warning. I have taken it to our local dealer twice and they say they can not find any problem. At first they stated the oil level read low. We had them do a complete oil change and one month later the same issue. After reviewing the internet it seems to be a very dangerous safety issue that chrylser Dodge Jeep just wants to ignore. Mostly occurs when slowing down at a stop sign or red light. Will stall in the middle of the road and the check engine/battery light displays. You need to wait 2-3 minutes and restart. All diagnostic tests report negative. Fear for my safety and that of those on the road with me!

  • 58,000 miles
My vehicle has always had difficulty shifting and would often have hard shifts between gears. At 22,562 miles I brought my car in for this issue, prompting Jeep to update my vehicle's software. The problem persisted, but I was told it was just the performance of my 4-cylinder engine. At mileage 58,160 while driving on the highway and merging lanes, my vehicle completely lost any ability to accelerate and lost all power functions. I was able to use the vehicle's momentum to get into the breakdown lane. The vehicle had a message on my driver's dash instructing me to shift the car to park. After doing so the vehicle still would not start until I shut it off and restarted the vehicle.again, Jeep re-programmed my computer. One week later, on 9/25/2017, the vehicle had the engine seize again while driving at approximately mileage 58,511. Jeep determined that the oil level was very low, even though a full-synthetic valvoline 5W20 had been completed at 53,335 miles and the fluid levels were checked at the dealership one week prior to the incident. The dealership performed an oil change, instructed me that after 50,000 miles it is acceptable for the 2014 Jeep Cherokee models to burn off 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles and to monitor the oil levels going forward. I mentioned to the dealership that the oil levels had just been inspected at the dealership one week earlier, on 9/18/2017, and was told that fluid levels were normal. As a result, the vehicle would have been burning oil much faster than the 1 quart per 1,000 miles acceptable threshold. I was asked to see if the new oil change would resolve the issue, and to bring my car in at around 60,000 miles to check the oil levels. At 62,052 the vehicle seized again and, upon diagnosis, oil levels were fine. Jeep can determine the problem and cannot offer a solution. It has happened two more times over the last month.

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee completely stalls while driving with a message that states "must be in P to shift gears". the vehicle also stalls while driving after filling the gas tank, with the same message. The dealer cannot identify the problem. I've seen several other complaints from owners for the exact same thing that don't seem to be getting addressed. Failure to address this issue is a risk to those owning the vehicles as well as others on the roads and poses a major liability to the company if nothing is done to resolve the issue. I'm listing the most recent date, however this is not the first time it's happened.

My Jeep Cherokee 2014 has been having engine problems since I bought it. Last night was the worst experience, thats why im here. I was on the highway and the Jeep just started to brake on its own. I was sliding in the snow and almost fliped. I was able to control the Jeep. I had trouble pulling it to the shoulder of the highway. Had to force drive to the side. Would not go on reverse. When the town truck arrived, he had trouble putting it on tow truck. This problem needs to be looked at before someone dies over something that could have been fixed.

After filling my tank with gas I turned onto a nearby roadway and felt my car sputtering and jerking. As I came to a slow stop at a stop light my car abruptly slammed to a stop and made a loud bang/slamming noise and prompted me to shift to park and restart the car. I followed these commands and the car would not move. As soon as I would shift out of park the loud slamming would occur again and I began to smell fumes so I stopped trying to follow the prompts. I put my car in neutral and pushed my car out of the moving traffic lanes and got it towed. The dealership claimed nothing is wrong with my vehicle and gave it back. I have experienced the same issue 3 times since. They replaced an evaporation pressure switch the second time I took my car in and this still has not fixed the issue. The last time the issue occurred I was slowing down on a highway in dense traffic and as traffic started moving again my gas pedal stopped working. I could not accelerate when I pressed the gas I only heard loud revving noises as my car coasted.. when I went to press the brakes and pull off the road I immediately heard the loud slamming noise and my car broke down again in a very unsafe location on the highway. I waited one hour and my car was able to restart and I slowly got it off the highway with my E-lights on. I will be taking it to the shop after the new year.. again. Worst of all after looking into this issue online I see it is common among Jeep vehicles. Not just the Cherokee. Happens after I gas up. It is extremely unsafe as I have almost been rear ended at high speeds by other cars on the roadway. Has been listed in forums as somesort of rollover fuel valve. Please investigate before more serious injuries or even death occurs assuming that hasn't already happened. Also please note that since the work they did on 2nd visit to dealer I have had check gas cap and engine lights

After filling up the gas tank, I was stopped at a red light. My car started bucking, shaking and the service transmission and engine lights came on. The car told me to put it in park and turn it off. It would buck every time I tried to go from a stopped to starting position. I was stopped at a red light on a busy city street, at a busy intersection at night and terrified that I was going to get rear ended.

Since I purchased my used vehicle I have had a reoccurring issue where the vehicle hesitates to accelerate in the first gear. Recently it has gotten so severe that the vehicle completely shuts off. I've noticed that it occurs most frequently after I fill my tank and after prolonged periods of being stopped. It has occurred four times on the highway while sitting in traffic and most recently while waiting at a red light. When it occurs the vehicle still has power running through and a notices always pops up saying "car must be in park in order to shift." In all cases I have had to turn the vehicle off and wait several minutes before the car was able to turn back on. In all cases no indicator light appeared as to what the problem could be. After taking the vehicle to get serviced thew first time I was told it was the battery. The second time I took it to get serviced I was told the evaporated canister and purge solenoid had to replaced. The issue still exists and the dealership has asked me to continue driving the vehicle as is until a service light appears because they do not know what the problem can be. This vehicle is not safe to drive as is.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle was getting stuck in gear. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (bob poynter Chrysler, 3020 B national rd, columbus, in) where it was diagnosed that the system needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. On July 1, 2017, while driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle would not shift into gear and the "error car must be in park before shifting gear" message appeared. The contact restarted the vehicle and took it to community Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (2300 S walnut St, bloomington, in 47101) where it was diagnosed that the system needed to be updated again. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. Additionally, while driving unknown speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who stated that an appointment was needed for service. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. An appointment was scheduled for a later date. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and referred the contact to the local dealer. The failure mileage was 51,000.

I parked my car in the garage as usually (so vehicle was parked). On top of my garage there is my neighbor's apartment and my apartment is on top of the neighbor's apartment. I am completely sure that, when I came home the night before, I had shut off the car (using the push button- the car has a keyless ignition system) but in the middle of the night the car turned on by itself. We don't know for how long the car was running but it ran enough time to fill my neighbor's apt. With fumes and also the fumes reached my apt. Upstairs where I was sleeping with my daughter. The two of us (my daughter and I) were lucky because I had all my windows open (it was hot that night) but my neighbor ended up in the hospital for 3 weeks. At least 19 deaths have been reported nations wide due to keyless ignition malfunctioning issues. There should be some sort of automatic shut down after a certain amount of time but there isn't one in any car that have this keyless ignition system. Also very few manufacturers have added a beeping or audio alarm to warn drivers they have walked away with the fob but failed to turn off the ignition. I did turned off my car but still it turned on by itself, causing my car to idle in the garage for many hours. I believe the start/stop button on the dashboard of my car is actually malfunctioning. However when I told this to Jeep dealer they said the car is perfect and they want to give me back only $15K. I paid $24K for that very dangerous car! since the incident on September 16th,2017 I have been having anxiety issues and also I had to rely on the goodwill of friends and the use of a friend's car. I now need to move on from this incident and get a car that I can rely on and feel safe parking it in my garage but I want to make sure that these cars are out of the market asap so none will suffer what we suffered. Thank you...updated 01/04/18. Updated 8/20/18
