Cherokee Limited V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,000 miles

Since the beginning in august 2014 transmission never felt right. Dealer stated that they couldn't fix it and it would eventually work itself out..fast forward to august 2016....transmission starts failing by shifting into neutral or "safe mode". Whatever that is. Dealer reset and applies all known software updates. Vehicle operates okay until early September. At least 4-5 times within a week transmission fails again leaving me stranded in the middle of the road until I could get it moving again by putting into park, turning off and restarting etc. dealer is unable to fix it and Chrysler says they don't have a part to fix it. It's now been sitting in my garage for 5 weeks as it's too dangerous to drive. Chrysler is paying for rental now but offers no timeframe. I've now put out over $1000 for rental which will probably take them forever to reimburse.

Cherokee Limited 4WD, Active Drive 2 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

Came to a stop sign shortly after leaving home, and all of a sudden when I went to pull onto the highway, our Jeep went into safe mode and several lights on my dash came on. It went on to say that my 4WD wasn't going to work, etc. We've also had several instances where we put the vehicle in gear, and all lights on the gear shifter are illuminated, not just the gear we're in. The dealership told us that they couldn't find the cause of this issue, and sent us home after another all day oil change. Then we just received our 5th recall, basically for the same thing that had just happened to us, stating that there's a problem, but they don't have a fix. Now I'm without my vehicle, with a very stripped down rental, for an unspecified amount of time. Enough is enough!!!

Cherokee Limited 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 22,450 miles

Transmission shifts to safe mode (low gear) at 70 mph. Engine light and down hill skid icon on dash. Condition will throw you into the windshield. Told to stop the car turn if all the way off and re-start. Within 2 miles starts over. Made for a long trip home from vacation. Decided to shift it into "S" mode and shift the gears which got us home. Took to dealer they reprogrammed gave it back after a week. Still having issue and now back at the dealer.
