Bought 17 Jeep Cherokee used w/ 50k+ miles. After a few months noticed a mildew smell. Found floor under front passenger seat was soaked. Long story short, I placed towels under the carpet and had to change them daily as they were soaked with water. Took to dealer and asked about recalls or bulletins...apparently the service advisor had all recalls and bulletins committed to memory, he said none for this model without even looking anything up. But for $150, they would diagnose and tell me how much additional a fix would cost. I passed. Tried a few things that did not work. Did some research and found a Jeep service bulletin for this problem (23-15-16a). Called the ‘Jeep Cares’ hotline to inquire...they are USELESS, sent an email to Jeep cares...no response. More research on the service bulletin and I found the recommended repair procedure. Apparently the factory applied sealer on the firewall is prone to leaving gaps between the sealer and firewall that leads to water intrusion. I removed the front fender liner and found 1-2mm gap between sealer and metal. I sealed the gaps with silicon caulk. Been a few days and floor seems to stay dry. Here is a link to the repair

Hope it helps. FYI...”Jeep Cares” is useless

I leased this 2017 Jeep Cherokee brand new in 01/17, I had it 1 week and there it was all the frost on the inside of the window!! Called Castilone and told them, they tried to fix numerous things. Come to find out after 4 months later and numerous days in the shop it was a manufactured defect. So instead of them making it right, they it had for over 45 days and now it is happening again!! Had numerous visits and calls to Castilone and also talked to Jeep rep and Jeep Chrysler, and nobody is doing anything!!!! I have a pond in my car along with mold, mildew and musty smell!!! Yep, but Jeep tells me that I am not eligible for a buy back!! I can not figure out why, because per Castilone this is a manufacture defect!!! But nobody does anything!!! I pay good money for a car that is a "HUGE HEALTH FACTOR" and yet no one does anything!!!! What to do? Where do I go? I can't get help from the dealer Castilone or Jeep, Chrysler!! Please let me know!!!!

We bought a bran new 2017 jeep cherokee sport edition with 0 miles. We now have only 21,000. Miles on it. We started noticing moisture inside and thought we may have left a window cracked. Then we noticed water dripping out under the car when it was parked! It has been raining very hard here for days. We noticed the floor mats were soaked! We called the dealership we bought it from in Fort Bragg ca. and they said bring it in. As we are still under warranty. They did a test on it with a sprinkler on top and soapy water. Bubbles came out of every window and seam! It was leaking everywhere! They said they had one other case like this! They said to call Chrysler. Chrysler said they would open a case for us and call us back within 24 hours! Its now been going on 2 weeks!! The dealership said they couldn't do anything but send it in to a body shop!! Wow!! Once you do that your going to have problems forever! This is ridiculous!! Very BAD customer service! Someone should do something! We bought a new car so we didn't have problems and it would last!

When the cold weather set in during November, we noticed a significant amount of moisture on the windshield and though it was just the recent weather. This continued daily and we thought our boots were bringing snow onto the mats and when it melted it created moisture (we have Weathertec type mats), but we have another vehicle and it doesn't have the same problem. We had a cold day (-30c) where my wife went to go to work and the fan was squealing if she turned it higher than level 1. As she drove to work, she noticed that as the vehicle warmed up, the fan would go higher and higher, eventually reaching 5 out of 7. When she left work afterwards, it was fine as the vehicle sat in the sun all day.

When she got home, there was a Check engine light. I read the codes and got B10EA and B10E9 (Blower Motor Control Circuit High, and Blower Motor Control Circuit Low). So, I pulled our Weathertec mats up, installed a dehumidifier and a heater in the vehicle for 24 hours thinking that would get rid of it. Same problem and I'm now going crazy trying to figure this out. Started looking on Youtube and found a video showing water coming in through a seam in the front passenger side body (Video is called (Jeep Cherokee Water Leak Found After Being Told There Was No Leak From The Jeep Dealership!).

Realizing that this "may" be a bigger problem, I booked an appt with the dealer who now has the vehicle. I'll update this as I know more. This is a known issue (SB# 23-015-16 REV. A) on 2015/2016 models, but potentially not the same on 2017's.

I'm hoping they find the source as I don't want a leaky, moldy vehicle..

I bought a new Jeep Cherokee 75th-anniversary edition from Galena Jeep in Columbia SC and a couple of months after started smelling mold. I thought the sunroof was leaking because I couldn't find any water inside the car. Looked everywhere for the water to no avail. I had plastic molded mats put in new to save the new carpet. Well, I finally took it to the dealership and was told that the robot missed a wheel weld front drivers side and water had been leaking into my floor board and soaking the carpet and pad. They said they replaced the carpet on the drivers side and it was fixed. 10 months later my cars in the shop going on 9 days, the cars riddled with MOLD and MILDEW. I live in SC and if it sits in the sun shut up for awhile you gag when you enter the car. It's so bad I now have headaches if I drive with the windows up! Its been into the shop 4 times, 15 days total they bleach bombed it 3 times, did some other treatment to carpets and it still smells horrible! I've started a a case with jeep # 350-47-609 and want new carpets and pads thru out along with new seat covers. They pulled out the air filter and it was BLACK WITH MOLD. I'm not sure what to do, but will not stop until JEEP makes it right. If they can't remove the mold and smell I want a new car.

I initially replied to a previous post about the Jeep owner's success in resolving water issues associated with the floorboards/carpet on the drivers side of a Jeep Cherokee. It appears I have the identical problem in my 2017 Cherokee, thought it may have been related to a recent repair to rear door panel however close inspection of the new weather seals shows it to be something else - if the weather seals leaked I would have heard a whistle.

I

do not have a moon roof and simply can't figure out where the water is entering the cabin of the vehicle. I would have also noticed the water earlier if I didn't have contoured floor mats. The collected water appears to be trying to find a way out as a small pool has formed on the pavement below the rocker panel.

What's the fix? Does this ultimately require complete replacement of the padding under the carpet and/or the carpet itself? No point in going to that degree if the water leak continues. Is this a Chrysler warranty issue? I as well spent a lot of money on this vehicle to be experiencing a problem of this nature within months of the purchase date.

Brand new Jeep. I accept perfection. Not rain soaked carpets. At the early stages of getting issue resolved. Not sure what all rights I have as a new car buyer? I want - a new vehicle!
