Cherokee Latitude

  • Automatic transmission
  • 43,000 miles

I've always wanted a Jeep. I bought a used 2018 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 4x4. I got tired of driving little front wheel drive cars in the snow and on ice. Within 2 months of owning the Cherokee, the service shifter indicated lights came on. I was so mad and of course the warranty was no more!

I called the manufacturer instead of the dealership. I was assigned a case manager and I followed all of their requirements as in, taking my vehicle to the dealership to get all the codes. They emailed all the codes back to the manufacturer. Case manager sent all the info to the engineers. I got the green light for all repairs at the manufacturer cost. Even though it was frustrating for such a newer vehicle to already have issues, the manufacturer worked with me and paid for the parts and labor without a warranty. My vehicle has been sound since the replacement of the bezel and wires.

Cherokee MP

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,000 miles

Driving along I smelled something..I also noticed my service shifter warning was on. I pulled over, rolled down window and saw smoke. Pushed button to turn off car, would not turn off. Could not shift, nothing worked. Also, the parking brake would not release. Don't know how it was on, as there were no lights on anything. My son came, and he finally got car in gear and and I got it home.

When I backed car into garage, I noticed there were no lines on GPS only picture. Could not turn off the engine. My son disconnected battery My car only has 25,000 miles, however, its over 3 years old. I also had to replace battery about 5 months ago.

Cherokee Limited 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,000 miles

Driving on 11/19/18 heard a beep, looked on dashboard saw service shifter was on. Turned around and went to dealership. Was told to bring in 11/20/18. I shut car off when I got home and started up again. Of course the light went out. I know when I go to dealership they will tell they did not see ant lights or anything wrong. Told them to keep the Cherokee, give me a loaner and when you find the problem call me to pick it up. Saw where the parts are not available until March of 2019.

That's fine, but give me a loaner car. I will not put up with service mans bullshit. If I have to block the service door with my Cherokee I will and go home leave it in front of door. Chrysler is aware of problems and never do anything to help some cases the transmission went to park while driving the car companies are getting away with too much crap now and trust me the serviceman at the dealership knows me very well from a different problem that was finally resolved in my wife's Patriot and know I will be back everyday to find solution to my 2018 Cherokee.

So if you have a problem do not hesitate to complain here or tell the dealerships your not putting up with their garbage, I do, works great. If they know you're crazy to stand up to them. Will post what they tell me on this site.

Update from Nov 20, 2018: Got call from dealership. Said they replaced a module. The bad news; wiring was bad, need to order more parts and will take one week. Also said not drive. My 2018 Jeep Latitude still at dealership. Told them I need a loaner, must be a truck or suv. They said ok, will not have nothing till tomorrow. Ok, no problem. Just so everybody knows, they will get all gas receipts and pay me back, if they say we cannot Chrysler does pay you back.
