Like a few of the other complaints I have read about the Jeep Cherokee, I have had my Jeep shut off while driving down the road, with a loss of assisted braking and power steering!!! With the vehicle shutting completely off, this could lock the steering wheel on a turn, or not allow you to stop in time to keep from causing an accident!! This is a terrible problem - there has to be a recall or I will pursue Lemon Law.

While driving down the highway the car suddenly shut itself off! I was very nearly rear ended at 55 km per hour, thank God the person behind was able to move to the other lane!, This is extremely dangerous. This vehicle only has 29000 kms and has been fully serviced by Jeep. I'm afraid to drive it now. Oil changes and maintenance are fully up to date. This is not what I expect from a new vehicle

Intermittently getting a ding when I make a turn, but no indication of what the problem is. Last week, I was making a left turn up a very short, steep hill and the car just died. The screen said to put in P and select a gear. After 90 seconds of panicking, I managed to back it slowly into the street and finally restart it. Had two diagnostics done, no battery or alternator issues. It happened again yesterday on level ground. Saw that people here are having oil issues so I am getting that done today.

I have had ongoing issues with my 2018 Jeep Cherokee, at least eight times it has totally lost power while driving, the battery light comes on and it says to shift into Neutral, the steering wheel locks up and I had to hope to slowly stop and have nothing in front of me or close behind since steering was not an option. I would have to put my Jeep in park right where I was and push the button several times to restart it when it was ready. This happened several times in traffic.
One of the times it happened I was going about 40 miles and hour and just come up over a hill in heavy five o'clock traffic. I continually tried to restart the Jeep and thankfully got it to start before someone came up over the hill and rear ended me at 40+ miles per hour. Two of the times I was slowing down and getting ready to turn at a light. All the traffic just backed up behind me.
We called the dealer the first time it happened and they said I just needed an oil change. Which clearly explains the battery light and the loss of power and steering while driving right? NO!! But we took it in a bit early for the oil change. A month or so after it started doing it again almost every time I drove it. So often that I refused to drive it outside of town and took one of our older more dependable cars on any trips.
The latest time it started this pattern we checked the oil and it was very low even though it was just time for it's next oil change. I didn't get any warnings at all for low oil or a check engine light or anything. We added three quarts of oil just to be safe and took it in days later (the soonest they could get us in).
We took it in yesterday morning and they called and said they figured out the issue and they are replacing the engine!! I will update when I have more information. I know they said it was burning oil because of the amount of space between something. It is of course all under warranty and they just happened to have an engine in stock for someone else that ordered one and then ended up trading their car.
I'd like to trade mine too, for something that doesn't have Jeep on it!

My son is a soldier in the United States Army stationed at Ft. Benning Georgia. On a recent visit home, he purchased a 2018 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk edition. He took it to Ft. Benning and had it there two weeks when it broke down. Mileage is 1.688 miles. He was driving on base, stopped at a stop sign, started to go and the vehicle lost all engine power. The engine light came on and he pulled it safely into a parking lot.
The next day it was towed to the Autonation Jeep South location in Columbus, Ga. The dealership has been wonderful in diagnosing the problem which is a defective throttle body (Part # 518434). The problem is that they can't get the part and are telling us it is back-ordered until June!!!!!
My son's brand new vehicle is dead in the water sitting at the Jeep dealership and he does not have any transportation. Being under 21, he also cannot rent a car! We have filed a inquiry with Chrysler and are also having our local dealership try to resolve this issue. This is unbelievable and what makes it even more difficult is my son will probably be moved from Ft. Benning before the part comes in. Illinois has a Lemon law which will take effect if the vehicle is at the service dept. for 30 days in the first year but we just want him to have his Jeep.
Any advice or assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

The issue has happened 4 different times. They don't know what is wrong but yet they are making us take the the truck back having made no repairs. This is very dangerous. You're driving down the road and the motor just shuts off with no warning...

2018 Jeep Latitude uses oil like gas. The idiots at Jeep said 1 quart per 1000 miles is normal - this is not normal!!!! You would have to be an idiot to believe that. It has stopped on me while driving 7 times and the say the computer does not show anything. The computer, engine or both needs to be changed!! Goldy dealership in Huntington WV, where it was purchased, says there is nothing they can do - it is normal????NORMAL??? If so, no one should buy a Jeep or Chrysler PERIOD. THIS car will be fixed!!! By them!!!!
Or I will picket (I am retired) at their front door until they physically remove me - and I do not think they will want to do that if they know me!!!
