Well it started at 18,000 mile or less. The car started shutting off. It turns out it's due to low oil. My wife took it in and they said it was the oil counter, and that it needed to be reset. And the oil need was changing, with not a word about oil consumption. So now it's doing it again and now they tell you it oil consumption. It has 26,000 miles. Still has 2000 miles before it needs an oil change. So now they tell you to bring it in and they need to change the oil and seal everything. Then drive it 2000 miles and bring it back so they can check the oil consumption. If it is using too much the have to rebuild the engine.

Now I have had a lot of cars and trucks but never had one use that much oil when it is brand new. We had a Patriot before with the same engine and no problem. I have had a 1997 and a 1999 Jeep Cherokees. And drove them for 265,000 miles and 310,000 miles and they never used any oil.

November 2019 I was promoted and transferred for work. A week after that my car wouldn't start. Paid to tow it to the dealership for them to tell me I needed and oil change. Funny how my light turned on the day before saying "change oil soon". They claimed it to be a safety feature to help not burn up your engine. Great, I know some people cannot remember things like that. Move forward to May 21st 2020. I was driving to visit family when my vehicle shut off driving 70 mph on the freeway. After 4532 mile my cars engine had consumed all the oil. Had to check in to a hotel for the night. Was barely able to get my car next door to the gas station. Checked my oil and it was bone dry. Put 3 quarts in it to get it running enough to make it to a Jeep dealership and not have to pay towing again. Gave me a rental and I was on my way. A week later dealership contacted me to tell me that I needed a new engine from it consuming oil. Very next day I received another phone call that in order for the FCA to accepts me getting a new engine and covering the cost with my factory warranty, they wanted me to do an oil consumption test. Which requires me to drive 1,000 miles and check in 4 times. If proven again basically that my engine consumes oil, I would get a new engine. Car was returned to me and the very next day I broke down. In 228 miles I lost all my oil. Had it towed to a dealership and my car sat there for 6 days. Another dealership reached out to me and said I got your engine approve, so I moved my car to that location.

Guess what....the next day I got a phone call saying I had to start the test again because my oil filter was loose. So I contacted the dealership that my car was originally at to let them know but they didn't do anything with my filter. So how did I lose all my oil in 228 if my filter was not touched? Tried contacting the dealership where I had purchased my vehicle and the GM basically told me to F off. The FCA has been nothing but rude to me. Another dealerships sales manager has lied to me and run my credit so many places that my credit score dropped 100 POINTS! They want me to purchase a new car I do not want and my interest along with month payments would double. When I purchased my car I made sure that I got all the warranties on it because I was trying to get out of another used car and I had to roll over some. Now even though I made sure to have all of them, its not helping at all. We are going into week 9 of this still not being taken care of. I have sold my motorcycle under priced to get the debt removed. I have reached out to several dealerships and FCA executives and still nothing. Was offered employee discount on any vehicle as long as I purchased it from a Dodge dealership. Come to find out that I was lied to. I can use my extended warranty I purchased as a down payment even though I was told I couldn't. I cannot get the employee discount on any vehicle, only a new one and although I was told 2 different times I was getting a new engine I still have not. Not only is this stressful but it is costing me hundreds of dollars a week from rental cars because I cannot go over 60k miles in order for me to trade in, but my job has suffered from it. I am the only manager currently with COVID and I cannot risk breaking down in the field. This is affecting my finances, stress level and health. NO ONE at the dealerships or FCA are doing anything. In fact they actually have stopped returning my calls. Now I just sit until I can get my credit back up from what the sales manager did to hopefully not roll over more than I did when I bought my current vehicle. I have sold my motorcycle to help but have to wait 30 days for that to show. They have not done anything to make this right and I am suffering tremendously. So I am paying my monthly payment over $500 a month and spending another $800 a month because of a defect that they will not accept. After an extensive amount of research because of this, the problem has been on going since 2015!. If anyone can help me please let me know. I have to put my career first which is why I am spending so much on rentals and that leaves me bare minimum to live off of a month. I cannot afford a lawyer on top of that also. I cannot file Lemon Law because you need 3 attempts by the dealership to fix it. Well they havent even tried to fix it because they keep telling me they are requiring a test. Apparently it is normal for an engine to consume 1 quart of oil every 750 miles. An engine should NEVER consume oil. It can burn oil but not consume it. I swear, if I had a penis most of this would not be happening!
