Vehicle was experiencing problems, which after dealership diagnostics, it was determined to be a bad PCM module. PCM module was replaced under warranty with N/C. HOWEVER, the original vehicle keys did not function with the new (replaced) PCM. I was informed that a new set of keys, which had to be programmed with the PCM install, was required in order to operate the vehicle. Chrysler/Jeep did not cover costs for the new keys and programming with the new PCM, and I was charged $212 for a new set of keys and $253 labor for programming.
If I had refused to purchase a new set of keys with programming to the newly installed replacement PCM module, the vehicle would not have been operational. Logically, a set of keys along with the programming should have been included in the cost of the warranty work done when the PCM module was replaced. A new PCM module will not function without a programmed/paired key; they go "hand in hand". We made numerous attempts to work this issue out with Chrysler Jeep directly, only to be declined and told that the key fobs are not covered under PCM module warranty.
