On [XXX] my 2019 Jeep Cherokee (VIN: [XXX] ) unexpectedly caught fire while [parked/operating -?" choose one], originating from what appears to be an internal electrical or wiring defect. No modifications, aftermarket parts, or repairs had been made to the engine or wiring since purchase, meaning the defect originated from the manufacturer. The fire caused significant damage to the wiring, requiring professional repair, and left me severely traumatized. Although the vehicle was repaired, the incident could have easily caused me serious injury or death. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Car shuts off, once while in the middle of a turn almost went off road and couldn-??t use brake or turn wheel. There were three other times it shut off at red lights and I have to put car in park and press the start button. Two of those times car had just started with oil light, was told that it is linked to the oil and to always keep it full until recall is issued. However yesterday on my way to work with full oil it shut off again. I then did my regular way to fix it and kept driving to work, out of nowhere my car starts only being able to drive up to 29 miles per hour I-??m just about to get on the highway so I pull over and have to shut off again fixing the problem. This seems incredibly dangerous due to it also when having this shut off issue a notice on my car says service 4wd unavailable. We live in New England the snow can be pretty bad. This car feels unsafe, I hope you realize this model has many issues and will address them, thank you!

The service 4WD light came on [XXX]. We discovered that there is a current PTU recall along with numerous other problems that are potential for recall. We spoke to the dealer (not able to help us) who referred us to the manufacturer. We spoke with Paul of US Customer care who told us to file this complaint. They do not recommend driving the car for safety reasons. There have been vehicles repaired but the repairs do no last. We have not been offered repair. We are on social security and can't afford a rental for reimbursement. We called all Dealers in out area. Their loaners are all taken and they all have waiting lists for loaners. We are left with no transportation. We can't afford another car - this one is paid for. Also, we were not notified of the recall within 60 days. We have been having problems with the electrical panel and AC electrical for about 2 years as well. We would like a replacement vehicle of like, kind & quality as soon as possible. There are many available. With kind regards, [XXX] & [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While driving down the interstate, my wife-??s car just died in the middle of the highway, no life or lights of any kind. Luckily we got it started again and made it home. Second time it happened, the car shut off on the highway and would not restart. Had to have it towed home, tried taking it to our local Dodge dealership and they said since there-??s no-??active codes-?? they couldn-??t do anything and sent us on our way. The car has a mind of its own and shuts off and or starts up whenever it wants. The care had a few codes when sent to dealership, service throttle control, lost function in fuel pedal, check engine light was on, start/stop needs serviced, and now the key fobs aren-??t working, the car won-??t start, acts like the battery is dead when we just had a brand new battery put in. This has happened 3 times to my family and it-??s very uneasy when we-??re stuck on the side of the highway as a hazard with no hazard lights working, and the car is dead in its tracks with no power whatsoever so ever. I-??ve read many forums where more people are having this issue. I-??m over the fact that we can-??t get an answer to what-??s going on, when we are paying for such a high quality vehicle and are having but none stop problems with it. I-??ve also had to put a rear differential in the car at 80,000 miles. I-??m just hoping to get some answers before something catastrophic happens to my family or someone else on the highway.

The infotainment screen in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee intermittently shuts off while driving. This occurs unexpectedly and has happened multiple times, sometimes while using navigation or the backup camera. On several occasions, the screen has turned completely blue and remained unresponsive for several minutes. The screen controls audio, climate, and safety features, and its failure creates distractions and limits access to key vehicle functions. This issue occurs randomly and has not been resolved. I brought the vehicle to a dealership, and was told that unless there is a recall, there is little they can do beyond basic troubleshooting. I have not received any warning messages or error codes related to this issue. The problem appears to stem from either a software malfunction or a hardware issue with the Uconnect system. The component is available for inspection upon request. This screen failure impacts visibility and access to controls, creating a potential safety risk.

The stop start system has been malfunctioning ever since shortly after I purchased the car. When I purchased the car, my father and I asked for a printout of the CARFAX history to ensure we weren't buying a '"lemon". There was no information reflecting that the 2019 Jeep Cherokee Lattitude 2.4 2WD had been serviced for anything other than routine car maintenance. The CARFAX reflected that the previous owner took care of the car, propelling us to seal the deal, otherwise we would've kept looking if there were any found issues. It wasn't until I attempted to get my car serviced at Gettel the first time it malfunctioned that I learned it had been brought to their service department numerous times before it even reached 100 miles. They refused to work on it because the warranty had JUST expired recently, not even a whole year after buying the car (of course) and handed me a piece of paper with the recalls and services regarding the stop/start system. At this point I had to just repair it myself. Fast forward to the second time it malfunctioned: I was in traffic and preparing to slow down to turn when the wheels, brakes, and steering locked up, parking brake turned on and the whole car shut off causing a small collision. The other driver understood what happened and claimed the same thing happened to his wife, therefore he hates stop/start vehicles. He made me promise to never buy another electrical car, charged it to the game and drove away. Fast forward again to currently, now the third time my car broke down: While sitting at a light, it was still running, but as I lifted my foot from the brake pedal the car shut down. There was no indication of anything wrong with the car (S.N. none of the lights on the dash have EVER lit up since I bought it). I contacted Gettel via Google review and NOW they want to do something about this death trap they sold me because I made my situation public. P.S. When I search my VIN# on this site, a completely different car pops up?

  • 87,846 miles
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while reversing out of a parking space at approximately 5 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact used an excessive amount of effort to maneuver the steering wheel. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who failed to diagnose and remove the steering gear rack and pinion. The mechanic determined there was a short circuit in the electrical system for the power steering. The contact stated that the short circuit had caused the rack and pinion to burn out and fail. The mechanic then replaced the wire and the rack and pinion again. Approximately 3 days later, while driving approximately 30 MPH the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was returned to the mechanic who then brought the vehicle to the dealer who would be better equipped to repair the vehicle. The dealer diagnosed that the Exhaust Particulate Filter (EPF) connecter from the steering wheel to the battery had failed. The connector's wiring harness was replaced. The contact searched online and found related recalls under NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 18V524000 (Electrical System) and 19V637000 (Steering). The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recalls. The failure mileage was 87,846.

  • 80,000 miles
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shut off without warning. The vehicle was initially taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with a defective alternator. The contact disputed the mechanics findings and contested that the vehicle would not restart if the defect was related to the alternator. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic and the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective oil sensor. The mechanic replaced the oil sensor and the battery; however, the failure returned soon after the repair. The contact then stated that several warning lights and messages appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was then towed to another independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The mechanic suggested that the failure might be related to the electrical panel but was not certain that was the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

The contact owned a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact parked the vehicle and went inside a restaurant for approximately 30 minutes. Upon returning to the vehicle, the contact opened the front driver-??s side door as black smoke poured out of the vehicle. The contact stated that all four windows were covered with black soot. The windshield was cracked. The heater vents and ignition had melted and had fallen to the floor. The dashboard and instrument panel were severely burned with several wires exposed because the contact was able to see inside the dashboard. The authorities were called, but no assistance was provided because there was no active fire. A Police report was filed over the phone. No injuries or property damage were reported. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed by the Insurance provider to an independent mechanic, where the vehicle was later deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle remained with the Insurance provider. The failure mileage was approximately 181,000.

In the past two weeks, my car has stalled three times, all occurring approximately 5-10 minutes after starting my drive. Everything works fine until I apply the brakes, at which point the car immediately stalls while in traffic. Fortunately, each time, I was able to turn on my hazard lights, pull over to the side of the road, and restart the car-?"though it took some effort. Each incident also happened when my automatic start-stop system was turned off. These stalling incidents seem similar to a recall issue from 2020, where a computer system update was required. However, in 2020, I was unable to restart the car without a jump after it stalled. There have been no warning lights on the dashboard, and the car has not yet been independently reviewed by a dealer.

The vehicle is shutting down while driving. Full power down. I have replaced the battery and taken it to Jeep. They have reset and ran multiple diagnostics. The car shows nothing wrong. Each time I call MOPAR about the PTU recall which is causing from 2017-2019 Jeeps to shutdown they say my VIN isn-??t listed so they are unable to cover it under the recall. My car is doing exactly what the recall is describing.
