Cherokee Limited 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 91,810 miles

I bought this vehicle in 2021 with 52,000 miles on it, kept up with all the oil changes and maintenance on the car. I went over railroad tracks my power steering light came on and I couldn't steer my car, got home and turned the car off and it never turned back on after that. Got it towed to a car lot and they replaced the starter, was not the starter. Got it towed to Jeep/ Dodge and they ran a diagnostic on it and there was way more wrong with it than just the starter. The rack and pinon needed to be replaced as well as the alternator and the whole computer module in the vehicle.

Cherokee Limited 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 16,169 miles

Since March 2022 the Jeep has stalled 11 times, 10 of which were in an intersection and 2 pulling into my driveway.

I have taken the Jeep into Napelton Jeep 4 times. Each visit is 2 days (couldn't replicate problem) and another time they had it for 10 days (when they also couldn't replicate problem.)

April 5-15 2022 The longest time they had my car was for 10 days I picked it up because they couldn't replicate the problem. When I received my car back, it was filthy and the front end was scratched through the paint and trim. I sent pictures and text to Service Mgr with no response. Complete phone call survey - no call back.

July 28 2022 The car started stalling again - called Napelton Service Mgr left message - no call back.

August 9, 2022 Jeep stalled pulling into driveway and I was able to take a video of the dash. Provided Jeep and video to Napelton August 10, 2022. They said it was all set with a software refresh and had me pick up on August 11th.

August 16, 2022 The car stalled again...

The stalling scenario goes as follows:

It stalls/turns off only when you leave a stopped position. The speed is just beginning to roll to 5 mph. There's no power, no Radio, no Climate, no power steering.

You have to glide to a stop, and put car in park. Restart car, turn off emergency brake. You have to power the radio back on and it is on the station you were listening prior to stall. When you push the climate power back on it is always set to 72 degrees, defrost and foot flow and AC button not on. (I always have the AC on 60/face flow.)

Cherokee Limited 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 22,000 miles

This problem is extremely dangerous!!! The car loses power, gas, brake and steering while driving. The first dealership updated the transmission software but it was not fixed. The second dealership had the car for over 5 weeks, replaced the alternator and engine control module. We picked it up from the dealer and the same thing happened ten minutes later! Car is now being towed to a different dealership.

This problem needs to be addressed before someone is killed!

Cherokee

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

My car shut off in a drive through and would not restart. The Electronic Stability Control light and the parking brake light came on. Could not move into nuetral to move the car out of the way. Had to get towed to dealership. They are saying it's the battery, but the battery was replaced last year when the same thing happened.

Cherokee Trailhawk

  • Automatic transmission
  • 14,467 miles

THIS CAR IS AWFUL!!!!! Stay away from Jeep in general. I lease a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Tailhawk and there have been problems since I've had the car. The malfunction indicator light would constantly flash while I was driving and multiple trips to the dealership they told me everything was fine. Then while driving on the freeway in Detroit, the f*cking car just shut off, completely shut off while driving. I was terrified, I started a case with Jeep in hopes that it would qualify for the lemon law. Unfortunately, it seemed as if the dealer only took it serious when they realized I made a case with Jeep, they fixed the problem but then a month and a half later I see on the screen 'Service Shifter' and then the battery light and auto start-stop light came on and it stalled. I was able to get it back to the dealer only to be told that the second battery was low and so I waited an hour and a half at the dealership so it could be charged. Well two days later my car stalled again and the screen on the dash and the radio went completely black as the car had died. I have made a case again with Jeep, I am scared to even drive this car, I feel so scared that I am going to end up in an accident. The dealer called me today and said they couldn't find anything wrong with it but I will not take the car back until something is done. Jeep needs to recall this car immediately before someone loses their life.

Cherokee Latitude V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,000 miles

Big problem. Losing power steering on jeep 2019 V6 cherokee latitude. Driving down the road, about 50-55 MPH, battery light and engine stop/start light come on dash. Pull over. I have no power steering. Shut off vehicle and restart with ignition. Power and power steering come back. Noticed battery indicator on the dash was dancing around. Between 13.2 and 14.0. Power on vehicle not completely lost, but driving and steering function is. Could be battery, transmission, or start stop technology. Dangerous situation while driving. This was the first of three times within the first 4,000 miles. My son with me at all times. Coming from baseball practice. Bought this vehicle in NH Under warranty. If they cannot fix, I would like money back or new different jeep. I fear this is dangerous since it keeps happening.

  • 1,125 miles

1st payment was due 4/21, car broke down 4/17, ESS (electronic start stop) blew up the starter, which was on back order, vehicle was in dealership repair for 13 days. Received Jeep back, within one mile of leaving transmission was making strange noises, and Jeep had a lot less "get up and go" MPG was worse. Called Dealership in regards to noises transmission was making but it is sporadic so unable to verify.

Cherokee LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 7,456 miles

I have a 2019 Jeep Cherokee with less than 12,000 KM. It had been sitting for 2 weeks while my wife and I were away. It started up fine but I noticed a message on the screen that stated the 'Start/Go' system was not working and that the vehicle was operating in battery saver mode. The red battery light was also on. I shut the engine off and restarted it several times. Nothing indicated anything more than a failure of the start/stop system so I planned on taking to my dealer after I got home.

About 20-30 km into the trip the lights went out, several messages came up on the screen, then the screen went dead and the vehicle shifted into neutral and a message came on telling me to place the vehicle in park and restart it. (There was no indication the battery or electrical system was failing as the lights were bright and no dimming had taken place) With no power and no lights I was fortunate enough to be able to coast it to the side of the 4 lane highway. Everything was dead, no engine, no heat, no lights on the side of the road. I shutter to think what would have happened if driving through a major city with this type of failure. We would be sitting ducks, probably causing a major accident. Very unsafe and scary. I can no longer trust my vehicle.

The dealer in Saint John had the vehicle for over a day and the only thing they did was charge the battery. They couldn’t find the problem or duplicate it. I asked the technician if the battery was discharged then there must be a problem with the charging circuit. He said that was a good point but had no answers. In my opinion the engineers are trying to build too much sophistication into these vehicles and relying on a computer system to decide everything. This is not only going to be costly for the manufactures but dangerous to the public.

BTW I called Chrysler road side assistance and got an answering machine. I waited on the line quite a while, then decided I should leave a call back number but there was no instruction to get back to that part of the menu, so I had to make the call again. After about an hour someone did call me back, but by that time I had called my trusted CAA who always answer and they had a wrecker there within an hour. Very poor service. The person I was talking to said they were flooded with calls because of the weather. This storm had been forecast of about a week, so they had plenty of time to staff the call center. Poor excuse as I’m sure CAA had the same issues.

Cherokee Limited 3.2lV6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,009 miles

While driving, the car stalled and shut down for no apparent reason. Had to put it in park and restart it. When I read that this had happened to several other people, I wanted no part of this car and I was afraid to drive it. After being in the shop for 3 days, we went back to the dealer and insisted we trade for another car. We worked out a trade. It cost us more money, but I didn't care. I just knew I was not going to drive that car and risk being in an accident. The service department told me they were coming out with a recall--something to do with the computer system--but the recall wouldn't be out for a month or two. So hopefully others having this problem will get it fixed soon. This car is UNSAFE to drive, an accident waiting to happen.
