Cherokee Lattitude 3.2L

I went to the dealer when I still had the warranty, and they usually keep the car for 3 days - they say they drove it around and they did not find any problem. I told them it does not happen all the time, sometimes I was thinking it was the transmission but they said no problem. Now I run out of warranty and it is doing it more often.

It's stalling, and sometimes when I accelerate after stopping, it does not want to move.

I, like pretty much everyone else on this feed, has experienced the same problem the exact same way. The first occurrence happened before the first oil change at around 6800. The car kept shutting off while I was turning in traffic. I would lose all functionality of the car and the dashboard would like up. The car would not start back up right away, lots of cranking, but eventually starting up. This happened multiple times before I called and took the vehicle in.

I was told the same thing everyone else was... it's a safety feature for the engine. Less than a year later, my car starting making a dinging sound when I would make a turn and no lights were illuminated on the dashboard, I checked the messages - nothing indicating a problem. I noticed that it said I had 30% left for oil, the tag in the window said I was right at the time so the plan was to go within a week (I was out of town).

The car began stopping while I was driving in the middle of traffic... no control, no power steering, nothing. I was almost hit more than once. I took the car in and was told again its a safety feature for the car. How nice that the car protects itself... what about the protection for the driver? This the craziest thing I have every heard of and the people at Jeep look at you like...

The car is protecting itself isn't that great... there's no real concern for the big picture of the safety of my family. Their current solution is to replace the engine. However if this is how the car is designed, changing the engine will not stop this car from stalling/cutting off if I am close to an oil change. Purchasing this car was a big mistake... I want out.

I bought the Cherokee in 2019 - it was new. I have had several incidents when I’m out on the road and when I come to a stop, the engine hesitates. I believe it’s only going to get worse it’s happened several times. I have also had problems when I accelerate the car - it starts shaking like I’m driving a stick shift.

Cherokee UT 2.4L

My 2019 Jeep Cherokee has several issues. The most dangerous and important one is the car shutting down while driving with no warning. Loss of steering control and a very bad safety issue! This has happened 3 different times and Jeep won't take responsibility for the problem. The vehicle also revs high when on any kind of incline or decline and there is great hesitation on normal acceleration.

I don't have confidence that if I pull out into traffic that the car will respond properly or won't completely shut down, which it has done on 3 different occasions. The vehicle has several issues and apparently Chrysler/Jeep won't take responsibility for the poor engine design of the 2.4 Tigershark engines. These are dangerous issues that are of great safety concern. Do people have to die in order for Jeep to take responsibility and fix the problems?

Cherokee Latitude Plus 2.4L I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,005 miles

This is dangerous. Vehicle will suddenly lose power. The gas pedal will not work at all or barely just enough to try to get off the road. This has happened twice in 1 week. Dealership didn't want to fix it the first time it happened because it started working again. Then 5 days later it happened again but this time I had no acceleration and I just got on a road when it suddenly lost all power and would not speed up. So I had to pull over before the car came to a stop. I have told the dealership about it again and they are supposed to get it fixed. I feel they should have done that the first time this happened, because this could cause a car wreck.

Going up the Lake Charles Bridge on I 10 at 11:00 PM. My son was in the back and I was driving. There was heavy traffic. All of the sudden, my car lost power. It stopped going. I was pushing on the gas over and over. Depressing the pedal all of the way to the floor. My son was shaken, I was crying, and were honking.

Cherokee Latitude Plus 2.4L I4 Multi Air

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,757 miles

I was driving my New 2019 Cherokee Latitude Plus with only 5,757 miles about a mile from my home. I was driving up a hill and had to cross railroad tracks. As I was approaching the RR tracks it stalls on me. All the light on the panel come on and I have no steering so I was able to coast to a stop. I then put it in park and it started right back up. I went home and called the dealership and they said they want to get the car in immediately to bring it in. I told them no way. They need to come get it. No word so I stopped at the dealership on that following Monday (using my sister Honda Pilot which I now question why I went back to Jeep) but anyway, I talked to the general sales mgr and the head mechanic (which in all surprised was a guy I knew all my life growing up). He wanted to come to my house and see if my oil was low. He said there is a feature for the engines that shut it down when the oil is low. First of all, my car has only 5,757 miles and if it is low why is my engine burning it. So he stops on 6/24 and checked the dip stick and he said it's down 1 quart. And he had one in his truck and would add it now. He asked I drive it and see what happens. I was very reluctant but did. So the next day I was going down the same road and someone stops in front of me to pull into a business and I stall again. I was only going maybe 15 MPH and I got it over on the side and it restarted and I took it back home. Called dealership. They said they would have a rental brought to me on 6/26 and take mine for observation and overall check. So no one call until I called in on Tuesday 7/2. They said they needed me to pick it up and I told them no way. They couldn't find anything. So I suggested why don't they call the Chrysler rep and see what they suggest. So I received a call Saturday 7/6 that they spoke to rep and he told them to replace the solenoid valve b/c it may not be holding the vacuum. So that was replaced. I asked did you see it was leaking/or bad or you just replaced the valve b/c the rep told you. Well it was b/c the rep told them to. So I got it back on 7/8 and I'm very nervous and afraid to drive it anywhere. I saw some many other owners file complaints on this same issue and I feel like a sitting duck for it to happen for the 3rd time. I'm ready to file a lemon law case soon! Has anyone else ever file a case for this issue?

Very bad, scary and dangerous experience with this car. The car is stalling while driving, once in the middle of the highway causing the steering wheel and brakes to lock. I almost caused a chain accident with cars behind me. I did take twice to the dealer and came up with some nonsense explanations. I'm very frustrated and upset since this started happening to my brand new Jeep Cherokee. I guess it is a lethal weapon on the road. I'm scared to cause an accident and hurt someone or myself.
