Cherokee Latitude 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 93,000 miles

Recently, our 2020 Jeep Cherokee 2.4L developed a severe oil leak while on a road trip. Had to take it in to a repair shop away from home, and come to find out that the oil is leaking out of the variable timing sensor. The sensor is small , but it is not replaceable in the US, so you have to buy the whole timing synchronization unit on top of the engine! This unit alone costs $1700, plus several hours labor to R&R. Jeep should make the stupid sensor replaceable, so you don't have to replace the whole unit! In Italy and other countries, the sensor is replaceable, but not in the US!!
