2006 Jeep Commander idling up on its own and engine made a loud noise. The dealer informed the consumer, the noise was normal for a hemi engine. The consumer was then informed, the problem was the throttle. Also when it rained, the consumer discovered water on the driver's side floor. The dealer was unable to find a leak.

Basically the door handle mechanisms disintegrated. The drivers side front and rear door plastic that surrounds the door handles broke into several small pieces and fell inside the door. I feel this is a danger because eventually the cable that opens the doors will break and I will not be able to open the doors. I have checked into having them repaired but it was very expensive due to the fact that the plastic around the handles is 1 piece with the rest of the plastic of the inside of the door. Also, although this is not a danger - the display screen for all the of electronics of the car, went black several years ago. I am unable to access a lot of the information about the car. We paid over $43,000 for the car - these things should not happen. The door handle really scares me. I have signed petitions to have this recalled as well as contacted the manufacturer. It seems to be a common problem with this car. Thank you

This is not a safety issue. This is a complaint concerning a very well known issue (one for which I have read many other similar complaints) in which the carpet and floor mat for the drivers compartment of my Jeep Commander are saturated after a hard rain and I am not getting any sound coming out of my stereo (likely due to a short from the water). This appears to be due to a problem with a clogged drainage tube coming from my sunroof. I have had numerous other cars with sunroofs and have never experienced a similar problem. This would appear to be a manufacturing defect issue which should be addressed with a full recall from the manufacturer.

I opened my car driver's door one morning to find two inches of rainwater on the floor near the pedals. Unable to find the source, I put my Jeep Commander in the shop. I was charged for them fixing the leak that never got fixed. I have had everything checked out numerous times & no one can tell me how water gets in. However inconvenient, I am parking my car in parking garages every time it rains now, given there seems to be no other solution. In addition to the leak, my Commander's radio/stereo just stopped working. I can't get it to turn on or work & and am now experiencing electrical problems having to do with window controls. After researching my options I learned that too often these same exact problems appear for many if not most Commander owners. (I also reported a major problem with this car stalling in it's own complaint.) these problems need to be analyzed by real professionals & the Jeep Commander must be recalled.

Two interior door handles, one at driver position and one rear seat passenger side door, have broken and fail to open the door without great manipulation. I fear for my safety or my passengers safety if I/they should need to exit the vehicle quickly. The doors do not open easily at all!!

Out of the blue the whole radio/cd/navigation console went out! the radio still works, but only the preset stations and I can only control it from the steering wheel. Then I noticed that the air bag light(on instrument panel) is turning on and off and beeping each time. There have also been water issues coming from the sunroof, soaking the floor boards in mainly the passenger side but sometimes also the drivers side. This only happens when the vehicle is parked.

Driver side floor has had approx 1-2 inches of water after raining on multiple occasions. Local Jeep dealer said the sunroof drain was clogged. This has never happened while driving, only when the vehicle is parked. It's pretty pricey to have these drains unclogged and from reading all the other complaints about this same problem on edmunds, it is a consistent service that needs done. I am very frustrated because this sounds like a defect on Chrysler's part, but nothing has been done about it. When this water floods my floor it stinks in the vehicle. I also notice flies and gnats. I am afraid of mold, dry rot and electrical issues. My radio is going out and I believe the water has something to do with this. I never had problems with the radio until this started. The screen is no longer clear, the gps doesn't work, the uconnect hands free doesn't work properly anymore and the radio randomly changes stations on its own.

Electrical dash board blinks while driving, driver's seat moves while driving, when it rains the driver's floor is soaked with water and passenger side floor is wet as well, vehicle jerks while driving. Indication lights pops on dashboard sporadically, radio and navigation doesn't work.

Hi my Jeep Commander has been in garage most of the time one day it stayed out in the rain and all the water got in the driver side and the electrical system failed radio shut off and on same with the dashboard lights, headlights and interior lights the it would stay on dash service suspension system check gauges the check engine would com on the battery and the oil and the tire pressure and sometimes it wont start the other day it shut off while driving I have 4 kids and im afraid it could happen when they re with me and they could get hurt I called Chrysler and they take no responsibility for this problem I'm reporting this to the BBB and to the consumers affairs hopefully someone will help.

An authorized dealer was notified and stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 08V203000 (power train: Automatic transmission: Control module (tcm, PCM)). The contact also stated that water penetrated the front passenger door handle and soaked the floor. The windows would also not roll up or down. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 30,000 and the current 70,000.

Inside doors failing all four are cracked the driver side passenger does not open from the inside. If in an accident they might all fail and then no one will be able to exit the car, if a fire happens or we just need to get out for other reason. We will need to open windows, to open door from outside, which might not be possible if wrecked and windows fail. If replaced and defect is not fixed it dealers will not help and average price as $450 dollars per door. When we purchased the Jeep in 2008 we not informed of this problem. My 2006 Jeep Commander has had a number of defects. The most costly has been that it leaks when it rains or goes through a car wash. I have had the sunroof clean out and the problems "fixed" in September but it has begun leaking again. When the vehicle had 38,000 miles on it I had to have the bearings in the driverside front wheel replaced costing me over $300 dollars. My mechanics informed me that the vehicle was to young to be having this part replaced. I'm just currently waiting for something else to go bad on my "young" vehicle.
