So I tried to turn key again and car started. * am pretty confident that my knee did not touch the key- I am too short for that and also the car would not restart once stalled- I turned key many times to TR and get out of the road and car remained dead/powerless. All electrical was off. Once car came back on, radio stations no longer programmed, etc. Much like the battery had died. ** plz note, mileage is estimated- I need to go look inside car.

In June of 2011 I was driving down the fwy at 70mph when the engine turned off steering wheel locked and I has to coast off the fwy luckily it was night and little traffic (California is known for heavy fwy traffic. It started again early 2012 this time the transmission would not shift at appropriate times and rev the engine while maintaining speed in any gear and would do that for 5-7 days in a row and then run normally (this still occurs at least once a month) dealership and other mechanics could not find an issue and basically stated the engine was running hot and the fan had not kicked in no the case since this was winter time when it began. As recently as April of 2014 it began turning off completely when slowly coming to a stop anywhere on the fwy at a signal going uphill, downhill, parking in a parking space and this happens every day all day long - it never does not do it. At this time I have 117000 and it is very unsettling as I have a 7 year old son, a full time job and live in busy California - the fact that Jeep/Chrysler is unable to determine the repair needed is putting my family at risk day after day - I can barely afford and make ends meet and this has caused me much stress. I cannot afford to purchase another vehicle as I have tried for the past year. Please help me.

Windows wouldn't work or if they finally engaged would go up and down sporadically.car horn came on by itself and wouldn't shut off until relay was taken out. Sept 2014 -- stalled, shut down, no start.starter replaced, new battery. Car started hesitating while driving. Dash lights would all come on and then all shut off. When coming to a stop or slowing down car would lose power. While coming to an intersection to make a left turn on a green turn arrow car wouldn't engage to excel. My 7 year old daughter was in the car. I feared we were going to stall in the middle of the intersection of a busy street. All the dash lights came on and shut off repeatedly as we coasted around the turn. Got a new battery. Car still wouldn't start. Dealership replaced solenoid/starter. Sept 2014 -- hesitates, lights on dash on and off, engine light on, dealership can't find any problems. Again, dashboard lights came and all shut off. Jeep is/was hesitating while driving and not engaging / changing gears while driving. Also, periodically accelerates randomly while driving.dealership suggests replacing control module and having wiring harness diagnosed.

Less then two weeks after the purchase of the 2006 Commander (purchased on 8/10), the dash started to flicker off and on at random times - slow and fast. As I would drive it would get worse and I would lose RPM, mph, lights at night, wipers during storms, radio, air, heat, defrost, all dash warnings flashing on and off, etc. The dash would go black and then the car would stall. The first time this happened I was on a hwy going 65 and had to drift to the side without killing myself or someone else. I started the car back up with no problem. Two hours later I was at a stop sign and it did the same thing. 8/27/14 took it to the dealer and they said they fixed it. The third time it surged, I was in a storm crossing over a two lane bridge - dash flashing, lights/defrost/radio/wipers on and off, and then nothing but darkness and car stalled - I had nowhere to go. I lost all control with the car and only going 35mph. I was able to coast to high point of the bridge with passing cars beeping and flashing their lights at me. I started the car and had the repeat experience three more times before getting home using the emergency break - brakes lock when car stalls. 9/20/14 I took it to the dealer and they said they fixed it. I was driving 35 on a highway and it started again and I decided to tape the activity with my phone - dangerous while driving but had to show someone what was going on - dealer told me they could get me in to look at it in 4 days. 10/13/14 dealer puts me in a junk car and says they are going to fix it and wants me to be safe. Thinks it is a recall. Love the car but don't want to die in it because of an electrical surge. My concern is that these complaints have been coming in since 2007 and it is just now getting attention. This is a huge safety issue. I wish I would have done my research before buying the car, shame on me.
