problem #2

Aug 222020

Commander 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 122,000 miles

New Battery, good alternator, car runs then dead next day. When I jumped it the car cranked, the wipers came on and the sun roof opened. All without the key in the ignition. Checked fuses and heard noises in the external fuse box.

problem #1

Dec 232016

Commander Limited V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 74,000 miles

ignition switch faulty (again)

Ignition Switch had recall, it was fixed towards the end of 2015. Still had issues, finally December 2016, car sometimes does not start, turn key, lights in dash go on but car won't start or, car starts after many tries and dash doesn't work. Have to hold key all the way to the right for dash to stay on. Everything on-line shows faulty ignition switch but dealer giving a hard time to replace it again. Can't believe they would rather have all this bad publicity than to replace a $20 part. They are claiming its a different issue that is not covered under recall and want me to dish out $1000, ya right. All I know is DO NOT BUY A JEEP. I had complete faith in them and purchased my 3rd one but lesson learned and never again.
