I Have a similar if not the same complaint as the one on file here form Liverpool, Tx on 12/14/21 - I also have a 2007 Jeep Commander and am having issues with the ignition and contact to start the vehicle. The key at time gets stuck in the ignition, is difficult to turn the ignition and rarely turns on on first turn... It has a failure of contact... and usually requires various attempts to actually ignite and turn engine on. When researching on social media this is a large complaint from owner of vehicles of same make year and model Please advise

Was driving cars engine started shaking was stalling losing power in the middel of the road engine light came on we barely male the car home it was stalling out happend only less than 5 miles from home put code reader on vehicle had 5 codes one was Power train and other spark plug ect going out dealer ship they had it towed the tow truck driver couldn't get the 2 front tires to move took him 2 hrs finally he told me he had to remove my drive shaft to tow it the dealer ship cleared the codes told me nothing is wrong with the vehicle and I have to come get it and drive it home 1 hr 30 min from there I am not willing to do that it's unsafe also they sold it to me with broken seat belts and a water leak that flood in entire front of the car so now my car is sitting there and I have no help on this.they refuse to fix anything except the seat belts and won't tow it back to me.

It randomly loses all power and it seems to shift erratically at this time as well. The check engine light dings once then disappears with out storing a any codes to diagnose. It only does it while I'm driving and if it happens while braking it loses the ability to brake. Very dangerous car, bought from dealership, told it had no problems due to not having any check engine lights and didn't do it on the test drive. AS IS WARRANTY.

My car will act like it's out of gas/convulsions, dies suddenly, and acts like it's going to die when driving. Check engine light has come on sometimes. I have only had the vehicle around one year and have had it worked on 4 times for the issue. Still isn't fully resolved. It's was the obvious issue from the start so probably an issue before I bought the vehicle. I was referred to the dealership and they quoted me 600 just for the inspection. I just paid 3000 dollars to have it fixed. Still not fixes.

I have a jeep commander 2007 limited. According to your recall dates my VIN number doesn-??t fall within those dates for my car to have the recall. Although my jeep is completely stallling out while driving 69 mph, I mean loss of all electrical inside my jeep. Power steering fails, engine shuts off, I am lucky enough that my brakes still work but who is to say that won-??t happen again. So when looking my VIN number up seeing that this is ONE of the recalls, my VIN number ISNT part of the vehicles that was affected by the recall but I-??m still encountering the SAME issue as the recall. I-??ve taken it to my mechanic he cannot seem to find the problem. I need help I just bought this car! It-??s our family car so it-??s not only affecting me it-??s my entire family. My husband, my two year older and my elderly parents.

Intermittent starting issue. This is my only vehicle, I have 2 kids with special needs and need to get to important appointments. I start my 2007 Jeep Commander, I get to where I am going, when I go to restart my vehicle it sometimes doesn't want to start. It will crank over just refuses to start. I have had multiple mechanics look at my Jeep and no one can figure out reasoning to this intermittent starting issue. I have put so much money and work into my Jeep for it to keep doing the same problem. The last mechanic I took it too seen code error in the display window on dash 'transmission over temp' when he had tried to start it. It does not do this every time the will be days it continuously starts every time then there are days that it's intermittent, and days it will not start at all. The mechanic starting lookin on Jeep forums about this issue there are tons of reports of the same issue but no solution. My mechanic said Jeep is aware of the issue but there is no recalls on this issue. He said he believes it is a programming issue the car thinks the transmission is over temp so it sends signal to the engine that it's too hot and the engine sends signal to the fuel pump that there is a temperature issue do not turn on. When it cranks over it acts as if it isn't getting any fuel at all. I have purchased a new fuel pump and some other parts the issue is happening. I bought the Jeep in April of 2020 off of another owner, the issue didn't start with me until January of 2021, the previous owner mentioned anything about this happening to them when I asked them. Can something please be done about this issue so myself and thousands of other 2007 Jeep Commander owners can get back to enjoying our vehicles"??" thank you for taking your time and reading this complaint.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to premier Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Fiat (13000 I-10 service rd, new orleans, la 70128) to be repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 14V438000 (electrical system). Upon return of the vehicle, the contact stated that the ignition switch cover failed to fit the ignition switch. Due to the failure, the key needed to be forced into the ignition switch to start the vehicle. Recently, the contact stated that she was unable to turn off the vehicle due to the newer ignition switch that was placed in the vehicle. The contact was forced to remove the switch cover and hold the key upon turning the vehicle on and off. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and the key had to be turned in the ignition numerous times before it finally started. Also, the electronic throttle warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 14V438000 (electrical system); however, the repair did not correct the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 149,725.

Mid winter of 2018 I drove my Jeep home and parked it on a flat landing and when I went out to start it 2 days after parking it nothing happened. I had to have it towed because the problem was with my starter. Now it is October 2019 and I was waiting at a red light in the middle of a busy city intersection and the Jeep just shuts off. After I couldn't get it started up again we found that it was once again the starter. This happened 2 weeks ago and since then I had the starter rebuilt and put back in. This morning it did the exact same thing at the exact same red light. On top of this it has been overheating at random times while driving, it does leak antifreeze but it has overheated even when the antifreeze was full. Also, over the summer I parked at S pizza shop in my hometown and left it running while I picked up my order. When I returned to the Jeep it was stuck in park and needed the shifter replaced. The components that attached the shifter to the actual gears were destroyed. I've had this Jeep for 1.5 years and it has left me sit now on 4 separate occasions.

While driving straight in the fast lane on the highway at around 65 mph, my vehicle suddenly shut off with no warning and I noticed that all dashboard warning lights came on. Fortunately, there was a fast-lane shoulder that I was able to steer it on, or I might have been killed by oncoming traffic. Vehicle would not re-start so I disconnected the negative battery cable, waited a few minutes and re-connected it and then the vehicle re-started but ran very rough. I proceeded along the shoulder to try and get off the highway, but the vehicle shut down again. I repeated the same process and it again re-started and I managed to drive home on back roads at 40 mph. This has happened on at least three other occasions, but the incidents occurred many months apart, which made me think it was a one-off situation. I have since researched this issue on the internet and have learned that many other people have had this happen to them. I think this is a tragedy in the making if Chrysler does not address this deficiency by issuing an immediate recall. I also request that a Chrysler dealership inspect my vehicle at no cost to me. Your prompt response to this urgent matter will be greatly appreciated.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle jerked, lunged forward, and seized. Also, the transmission warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed by an independent towing company to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch and gear shifter needed to be replaced. The ignition switch was replaced, but the gear shifter was not. The failure recurred. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 13V175000 (power train, electrical system) as the possible cause of the failure. Motor world Toyota (150 motorworld drive, wilkes-barre, pa 18702, 570-846-4098) was contacted about the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,242.

Air bag indicator light on. Ignition switch problem prior relates power mechanical devices, windows, sunroof, seats which present a safety hazard.. loss of functionality of these systems increases safety and injury risk. Chrysler worked on the ignition switch and after had issues with windows and airbag.

When it rains my control panel goes haywire and I've lost function of a brake light. The truck is stuck in 4th gear and sounds like the frame is going to rip out every time it jumps. Losing power controls ie windows and things of that nature. I have 5 children, youngest being 8months. I'm a retired army disabled cavalry scout veteran. I don't care about my personal info. I can't get [xxx] done cause some potato head sold me a lemon. I'm tired of getting treated like [xxx] after the [xxx] I've endured for americans that thrive off getting over on people. The second time, the dealer diagnosed that an unknown sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but continued to experience the failure. The contact called champion Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (located at 435 E pass rd, gulfport, ms 39507, (228) 896-1515) and was informed that the part would not be available for one month. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14V438000 (electrical system). The part was not available for the repair. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 188,507. Parts distribution disconnect.
