This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Jeep dealer.
2008 Jeep Commander periodically won't start. Many theories but no one can nail it down. Been stranded so many times that I hate the vehicle. Really ridiculous how much time and money that has been put into this POS.
The TIPM seems to be the next possible replacement that a lot of people are leaning towards. CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE SHOULD BE HUNG OUT TO DRY, CLOSE THE FREAKIN DOORS, KICK THE DOG, WHATEVER. Can't get over how much of a pain in the ass this is and knowing it will start in a while but just not now. Get it together Jeep, call a recall, this is not the 1970's but I can tell you Honda and Nissan are starting to look like a fantastic buy.
Update from Aug 27, 2015: Update to no start, replaced all 4 micro switches 39 and 40 in the intergrated power control unit. Driver side behind battery, first fuse box, 4 small black boxes. The switches burnt my fingers while pulling old fuses which was a key indicator of a short. I took them apart and found an electrical wire coil actuator and micro contact. Contactscwere burnt, arc metal marks and metal blow out.
With that said replace all four to be safe about $50 before heading to the dealer. Ive had 19 of 19 positive starts without any type of fault

My Jeep was towed multiple times for this issue. The dealership could not resolve the issue.

car would not start, took to car shop, said it started , but look into recall tow#1. Got home, it would not start for my wife after she drove to work, tow#2. took to Chrysler dealership in area. said it needed recall # p 57, and K06 . told them how it would start then not start. got car back on 10-17-2017 drove to her work, "got on Lunch'" went to start jeep dead, called dealer said tow it in, I called and told them to check wiring as read ALL over internet this is a problem for many, esp when you live paycheck to paycheck, they said tow it back in tow # 3. Sakelaris Chrysler Dodge and Jeep is the ones who have it, lucky for us that a.m. we took in our 06 Chrysler 300 to get recall R25 and s43 done, so after work when jeep did not start they said they we're done with 300, so she got a ride to dealership and picked up 300. So after talking to them they said they should have Jeep fixed in day or 2, WHY THEY DID NOT FIX IT IN COMPLETE is a mystery to me, but costly not because of free recall but tows. now this bill will be on us as recall did not fix problem, which i have read hundreds saying faulty wiring have to drop skid plate. that the hell. i loved my jeeps, and the last couple years they are junk. could not figure out why commander was made such a short time, and they are sold with low mileage, people are sick of fixing them. my dad was U.A.W always told me buy American, well, i think that's about to change, this is pure madness and a blood sucking money problem, last to grand Cherokee's and now this commander, then you wake up and fiat is involved, what happened JEEP. you sold out , your sh*t is going to the scrap yard fast!! the Compass what the hell is that? just had to vent spent hard earned money, still have a non running jeep. going Toyota or Nissan next.never get what we put in to the commander nor 300. which has had problems shifter, cable little pink thing which i fixed myself thank god. you guys had a good name after reading all the complaints i feel dumber for not researching and bought some lemons American style
