Also, an unknown warning indicator illuminated. The contact was able to pull over, shift into neutral, and turn off the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 120,000. The VIN was unknown.

Smoke also emitted from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer originally stated that the accelerator was the cause of the failure, but later stated that the floor mats were covering the accelerator pedal and caused the failure. The contact also stated that a local body shop confirmed that the brakes failed and were the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. During acceleration throttle became stuck. Vehicle started increasing in speed without the pedal being depressed. I initially held on the brakes for 3 consecutive compressions without any noticeable decrease in speed or RPM. Shifted car to lower gear along with brakes, still RPM and speed was increasing. Plan B was to shift into neutral and let the engine blow or shut vehicle off while driving on busy highway. In the midst of going through these actions vehicle stopped accelerating. Going to dealer first thing Monday morning, god only knows what would have happened if my wife and kids were in this vehicle when this negligent, unsafe, hazard occurred. This is totally uncalled for in a basically brand new vehicle, me, my son and the innocent pedestrians along the highway were in jeopardy when this safety incident occurred.
