I have had my 2007 Jeep Compass for almost 2 years. The day I got it, not soon after that, the dealership had it back. I have had three trannys replaced in the jeep. I make the payment every month faithfully. Told the dealership that my tranny was slipping, jerking, stalling, and smells of fuel. Everything has been replaced on my Jeep Compass. 3 used trannys, starter, belt, alternator, fuel pump.

This last time I took my Jeep in and I was informed that I needed a subframe in rear, timing gasket cover, belt tensioner, oil pan gasket, all of which came out to be $5163. My warranty doesn't even cover any of this. This is the worst vehicles every made for that year. I have had nothing but issues after issues. Jeep should have never made this Jeep at all. I have goggled and it's one of the worst models that Jeep has every made. Don't buy a Jeep Compass.

Multiple times - car shuts off while driving - have had it in to car repair shops multiple times - can't find problem - happens most often if car is below 1/2 tank - happens less frequently if car is full tank to 3/4 full tank - very dangerous - happens in intersections, while driving on highway - does not turn back on immediately, must sit around 5+ minutes before car will turn on again - this happens randomly - can go for weeks/a month without happening this starts happening - does not seem to be a specific cause (ie weather/long drives/short drives) seems like they were recalls on later models for "Improper transfer of fuel from within the fuel tank" will have mechanic check this out as description of what caused recall seems to be what is happening

This is the second time this has happened to me with this vehicle. After filling up my gas tank, pulling out of the lot, I stopped at a red light and my car completely shuts off. This is terrifying on a huge highway. As a college student I do not feel safe driving this in Morgantown. What if I was going 70 on a highway and my car were to stall. This should definitely be addressed and looked into by the manufacturers.

My husband was on the on ramp to the interstate when the car stalled out completely on him. Then he got it going again and it happened again at a stop. The dealership could find NOTHING wrong so they sent the death trap back into our hands. It happened again and this time he could not get it started again. We are waiting to hear what they find.

My 2007 Jeep Compass stalls out after giving it gas,, it seems as if the gas isn't circulating properly into the engine. After stopping at a red light and accelerating to drive, my car acts as if it wants to cut off. It Terrifies me!

Last month I was driving on the highway and the car actually shut off.I was shocked. I coasted to the side and set for a few minutes b/c I was upset and scared. I started the car again with no problems. I got to work and as I put the car in reverse to back into the parking space it shut off again. After I coasted to park, I started the car again. It started, but then immediately turned off. I had AAA send someone to tow the car to NTB. They charged $99 to put the car on a machine to check it.

They found nothing wrong. The mechanic started the car and drove it around the lot area and nothing happened. They said that nothing was showing up, so they didn't charge me the $99, which was nice. However, I still don't know what's wrong with my car. I was told it could be one thing that's affecting another and fixing that may or may not fix the problem, but I still wasn't told what that problem was. I was told to come back if it happens again. I still don't know what's wrong, and if it happens again, I'll likely be in traffic where something worse can happen. I was shocked there was no recall I could find on this.

This problem deals with the electronic throttle coming on. There is nothing in the book to say why it comes on, or what to do when it comes on. When it did come on the Jeep almost stalled out on me and jerked. I took it in and the person said that it might be a relay issue. The throttle is not by a rod or anything but is now computerized for our safety. lol. I thought it had to do with the cruise control but no, it still happened without the cruise being on. Also the ESP comes on even when it is dry. Any suggestion?

Update from May 11, 2015: My mechanic said that he has worked on a few of these and has come up with what he thinks is a solution. He said that the computer needs to have an update downloaded into it. He sent it out to an car electronic place to have it done. I have not done that yet but I am one closer to fixing the problem. I think that Jeep dealership should pay to have this if that is the fix.

My car wouldn't start a couple of times and then twice in the last two weeks my car has shut completely down while driving. What if this happens on a highway with someone behind going 75 mph? I have taken to 2 local mechanics and they can't find out the problem. NOT SURE WHAT PROBLEM IS ALL I KNOW IT HAS BEEN ONE OF THE WORST CARS I HAVE EVER OWNED, A SHAME THAT THIS IS ONLY ONE OF THE MANY ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE.

loses power - thinks tank is empty

My car would loose power and not restart. First time I was told it was the fuel pump and I replaced that($400). The second time it happened, I was told it was the wiring harness and replaced that($365)t. Third time, I took it to Orange Park Jeep and they said it was a bad battery and that's why it was kept loosing power($185). Which makes no sense at all..After picking it up, it died 3 miles down the road. Took it back and 3 days later I was told it was the fuel pump. They said I must have gotten a bad fuel pump the first time. After testing the fuel pump they agreed it was not the fuel pump. They decided it was the instrument panel cluster and the gas gauge was saying it had 1/2 tank and it was empty. Replaced that at the cost of $883( they first told me $1004 but I spoke to the service mgr and got it reduced) Two days ago, I was driving 80 mph on I75 near Tampa,FL in the left lane in high traffic and the car shut down. I paid $255 for a mechanic to come out on the hwy and they could not figure out what was wrong. After 5 hours, it restarted! At that point the gauge said 3/4 tank full. So, I had to stop and get gas when the gauge read just above 3/4 tank until I got back to Orange Park. It is now back at Orange Park Jeep and we will see what BS they come up with now! I will be trading this car in as soon as it is running correctly. I'll keep you posted on service #5.

This vehicle is not under warranty, as the dealership told my Mother and Father -in-law. they are the ones purchasing this vehicle. They were on their way to a Dr. appt. I think Jeep should recall for this problem as a serious accident could occur. Makes more worry for them and our family to know they could be seriously injured in a crash because the vehicle shuts off while driving!!
