About 2 months ago i noticed that my RPM's would severely fluctuate and it would take a while to accelerate, then all of a sudden the RPM would drop dramatically causing my jeep to lurch as I was driving. I didn't think much because it only happened a couple of times. Then while getting gas, my vehicle stalled right in the middle. I took it to the dealer and they said I needed to replace the PCM (powertrain control module). It was covered under my warranty so I was happy. I was called the next day and was told it was fixed. I had my mother driver 45 minutes to pick me up and drop me at the dealer. I got out of the parking lot and a half mile down the road and it stalled on me. Got it restarted and kept on going, knowing I didn't have that far to get to work and it stalled again. All while in heavy traffic. I finally got to work and had it towed right back to the dealer. They still don't know what is wrong but they think it is bad gas, but that still doesn't explain why the RPM's have been going haywire. This has stumped the dealership.
Update from Dec 13, 2017: On December 1st I took it in again because the same problem was happening. THey had it until December 9th when i picked it up. They had said they replaced the fuel pump, some O rings and had to contact the lead district technitian. I picked it up on the morning of the 9th and on the way home, the RPM's jumped again and the Jeep volted 2 times while i was on the thruway. On Sunday i took it shopping and in the middle of an intersection it stalled completely and the check engine light came on. I took it back to the dealer on Monday December 11th and on the 13th they told me it was all fixed and they had to replace the crankshaft position sensor and update the computer. We will see when i pick it up tomorrow.
