I AM READING DOZENS AND DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AS I HAD TODAY. APPARENTLY IT STARTED WITH A RELATED PROBLEM. I HAVE TROUBLE AT THE GAS PUMPS WITH THE NOZZLE STAYING ON. I HAVE TO RESTART THE NOZZLE OVER AND OVER AND SOMETIMES I HAVE TO GO TO ANOTHER PUMP. SOMETIMES, IT CUTS OF AFTER ON A FEW CENTS OF GAS. OTHER TIMES, IT WILL BURP OUT A BUNCH OF GAS BEFORE CUTTING OFF THE NOZZLE. I HAVE TO USE THE "LOOSEST" BRACKET AND FILL THE TANK VERY SLOWLY TO FILL IT AT ALL. THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS THE VENDOR'S PUMP TIL I READ OTHERS WITH SAME PROBLEM TODAY.

TODAY, I WAS FILLING UP AND I LEFT THE NOZZLE IN WHILE PUTTING MY CREDIT CARD BACK IN MY WALLET AND INSTEAD OF CUTTING OFF, IT SPEWED GAS OUT AND ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND CONCRETE. I LET THIS EVAPORATE FOR A BIT AND THEN STARTED MY CAR. I ONLY GOT A FEW FEET AND IT STALLED OUT. WENT TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PARKING LOT AND IT STALLED OUT AGAIN. WAS AFRAID TO GET OUT ON THE HIGHWAY, SO I RODE IT AROUND THE PARKING LOT FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND IT STALLED OUT, IDLED ROUGH IN NEUTRAL AND THE PARKING BRAKE AUTOMATICALLY CAME ON ABOUT 10 TIMES. GOT AN ENGINE LIGHT THAT SAID "SERVICE ENGINE". HAD IT TOWED TO DEAL IN GAINESVILLE, GA

SERVICE ADVISOR SAID IF IT WAS OVER FILLED, IT WOULD NOT BE UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE HAD MY COMPASS 9 MONTHS AND IT HAS BEEN TOWED TWICE. TWO TIMES FROM THIS VERY GAS STATION. HAD TO HAVE A NEW STARTER ONCE AND HAD TO HAVE NEW ESS BATTERY ONCE. SEVERLAL OTHER UNRELATED PROBLEMS. THE CAR HAS 11,000 MILES ON IT.

WILL FIND OUT TOMORROW PROBLEM AND ESTIMATE, BUT SEEING ON THREADS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS THAT IT WILL NEED A NEW GAS TANK. VERY EXPENSIVE AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED. I FEEL LIKE I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE THE CAR WITH CONFIDENCE NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE STALLING AND AUTO EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGEMENT, BUT BECAUSE I HAVE NO WAY TO KNOW IF THE CAR WILL OVER FILL IF THERE IS NO MECHANISM TO KNOCK THE NOZZLE OFF WHEN FULL.
