I purchased my car in 2021 as a trade in. I paid cash for the transaction. I am a senior widow, so I needed a dependable, reliable car. Now one year later I have dealing with this oil consumption issue to the point where I need to replace the engine.

Vehicle is stalling constantly... Need to put it in park and restart, getting an Engine Oil Light... My then 17 year old daughter was almost involved in several crashes and would have no idea what to do when this occurred.
Took it to Jeep dealer who told me the problem was my oil was low... After 3000 miles? They said this is common with all Jeeps, it's the way the engine is made. If the oil is low, it stalls while driving... this sounds potentially deadly to me.

I was extremely lucky because I checked windshield washer fluid and checked the oil. It was dry!!! I purchased the vehicle used in Feb. 2020. So you know how much driving was done. There were no alerts to tell me the oil pressure was down!!!!

I am a 72 year old grandmother driving a cute Jeep Compass Trail Hawk selected by my granddaughter.
This vehicle does not alert me when the oil is low. The Dealership requested I do an "oil consumption test" after seeing the Jeep was low on oil after a recent oil change! After the 1,000 mile oil consumption test, I was told and I quote: "OIL LEVELS WITHIN SPEC, NO FURTHER WORK REQUIRED AT THIS TIME". This is wrong!
I've driven many vehicles in my 72 years of life and know that if I continue to add oil between oil changes then WHY CHANGE CLEAN OIL. Or, if I don't add the BURNED OFF OIL, I could kill my engine. I cannot trust driving my car and certainly will not drive alone at night.

I was driving when, out of nowhere, my check engine light came on. My Jeep then went into limp mode, which was terrifying. After tons of research I found out that this is a common problem with this engine. I am very angry with Chrysler for continuing to allow vehicles to be produced knowing they have issues.
These engines need to be recalled immediately. I was told that I need to have an oil consumption test performed, and if it failed, they would then replace the engine. It is absurd to me that Chrysler thinks it is okay to replace one defective engine with another defective engine. The underlying problem really needs to be fixed before someone is hurt or killed!

Car not even broke in yet. Changed the oil in late Dec (Mobil 1 full Syn). Just thought I'd check it one day while cleaning the engine bay and filling wiper fluid, a quart low 6 weeks after I had changed it. I always recheck after the first drive post oil change to ensure fullness. How can this tiny car burn a quart of oil in 6 weeks. I have owned V8's that have hauled trailers with 180,000+ miles that burn less oil. Open your pocket book and where that handy air compressor is, carry an extra quart of oil folks. Love my Wrangler but that's the only Jeep I'll buy now. No fake Jeeps for me.

I bought this 2018 Jeep Compass brand new and it uses a quart of oil before 3000 miles, after every oil change, and has since brand new. The local dealership did an oil consumption test and put a new engine in at 24,xxx miles.
But guess what? The new engine also uses up oil. I’m not happy at all about having a brand new automobile and it using this much oil.

I bought a 2018 Jeep Compass in May 2019 with about 8,200km on it at the time. I am the second owner. The previous owner only had it for about 3 months, so this car was practically brand new. After about a month or 2 of owning it, my hubby and I noticed it was acting weird and stalling. Luckily he's mechanically savvy and thought to check the oil, Sure enough, it was almost completely dry! We thought maybe it was just a fluke or something so we topped it off. The same thing started happening again after about 3 or 4 weeks and it was dry again! This thing GUZZLES oil like you wouldn't believe! The dealership I bought it from did nothing for me. They said they would look into it and never contacted me back. I took it to a different one and they were very nice and helpful. They looked it over and saw no leaks anywhere, so we started doing oil consumption tests. They winded up replacing the whole engine because it was so messed up.

Oil consumption is ridiculous. Told by dealership that the 2.4L is supposed to burn 1 quart every 2000 miles because it runs hot. Again, this is ridiculous. If I go on a trip across the country, I have to put a case of oil in the back of my brand new vehicle. 11,000 miles now and went through 4 quarts at my expense. No warning given.
I have a 16 year old that drives this and the reason I put her in it was for safety purposes. This is not safe. I heard the motor ticking and decided to check the oil at 5,000 miles and it did not register. This can't be good on the motor. Again, no warning. What I got was a lecture from the mechanic because the oil was too low. How would a 16 year old girl know to check the oil every 2,000 miles.
This needs to be remedied. No info given from salesperson. No warning given from manufacturer. This is a rip off. And shrugging responsibility is wrong. Saying this is normal or expected. Bullshit. Its a flaw that wasn't caught and Jeep doesn't want to be responsible financially.
I have and have had Chrysler/Jeep products. Will I again? My 07 Malibu with 200,000 miles on it that I haven't changed the oil in I couldn't tell you how long still runs and has oil on the stick.
Step up Jeep. You are really putting safety at risk here.

Purchased the 2018 Jeep Compass for daughter as graduation gift and it has been an issue constantly having to check the oil levels. We have taken it in for a computer reboot, but pretty bleak as the issue still exists.
