This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Jeep dealer.
Car was bought new in 2000 with around 800 miles on the odometer. A few months later, the driver's seat lower outboard plastic panel broke off due to a broken plastic clip. This was fixed/replaced. We were told that this does happen due to plastic clips being used by the automaker. This issue just happened again, almost a year apart, 08/2021. We were advised that both of the panel's interior plastic clips failed/broke and that the panel needed to be replaced again. They then advised us that this was not a warranty issue and that we would have to pay for the part?? They also initially could not find the original complaint and fix in their records.
After a discussion and checking, they found the original paperwork. They finally agreed to fix/replace the part again under warranty. We never had a problem like this in any other car we have owned including four Dodge mini-vans. And to initially inform us that they would not agree to cover this under the warranty?? We will be contacting a representative to clarify this issue in case it happens again. Plastic clips may not be the way to go.
Update from Oct 12, 2021: Correction, Car was bought new in 2020, not 2000.
