This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Jeep dealer.
I was making a turn car we’re still moving in about 15 mph and then all of a sudden the engine shut off and I hit the gas pedal to go and there was no momentum. The D on the dashboard and on the gearshift were both blinking, there was no warning sign or alert symbol or anything to appear on the dash.
When I went to start the car again, I couldn’t start the car because somehow the parking brake automatically engaged and I could not start the vehicle. I brought it into the local dealer and they told me that the system did not bring up any diagnostic codes that anything happened.
How the hell is that possible?????? Still waiting to hear more about my 2 week old new car that had to go in on day 12.
I am beyond furious at this point.
I have been told by others that this has been a problem in the previous years models, but the sales manager said he was not familiar with the issue on the 2020 year. Hmmmm suspicious......

I have a 2020 Jeep Compass and I have owned it for about 5 months and the car while driving on the freeway, street and has stalled out about 5 different times. I have had a few pretty close calls where someone was about to rear end me. I know the car is unsafe and when it stalls its hard to steer. I took it to the dealer and the mechanic said he could not duplicate the issue, I showed him video proof of the car at different mileages stalled out and he said let me call Chrysler and they said if he can't replicate the issue then there is nothing that can be done and they don't believe my videos. I had them try to give the vehicle back two times and I refused, I said you cannot replicate an issue by driving the car down the street and back on a 2 min drive.
I know that FCA tells them to spend limited time on the vehicle so they don't have to pay for the repair, and the mechanic told me a lot of times the error code gets erased out so they have no code to go by. Why do they say they have to replicate the issue when I have video proof? Why did I go to the dealer? for fun? no way, I sat at the dealer from 6:15 AM until 5:10 PM This is a serious defect that will cause me to get hit from behind when the car stalls. I was able to get the dealer to call back FCA and they authorized a loaner for 2 days while they try to replicate the problem. I think replicating is a waste when I have it replicated multiple times on video, it doesn't always stall. So most likely I will get it back unprepared.

For the third time my Jeep Compass shut off while driving. I took it to the dealer and again 3rd time they can’t find out why or replicate it. I contact Chrysler and put in for a buy back and was denied. They of course don’t tell you why... I am now going to attempt to file it as a lemon. I don’t want anyone else using this dangerous vehicle. Any advice would be great.

I'm reporting the first time that the problem happened. Obviously, it's concerning because it happened again today and I discovered that the problem is being investigated and there is class action law suit happening in at least one state. The Engine will appear to overheat and the engine will turn off for a moment. This happens unexpectedly while you're driving.
