Gladiator

  • 21,800 miles
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Gladiator. The contact stated that while an independent mechanic was driving 60 MPH, the vehicle drove over a pothole, and the steering wheel and the front end of the vehicle shuddered violently. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced the "Death Wobble". The mechanic diagnosed that the steering column and other unknown parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that unknown parts of the front end of the vehicle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the vehicle remained at the dealer for the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 21,800. Parts distribution disconnect.

At highway speed the front suspension and steering wheel begin to shake violently after hitting a bump. This happens between 65 and 75 mph and I must slow to around 45 for it to stop. This is a well known problem with these jeeps and is referred to as "the jeep death wobble". I took it to the dealership for inspection under warranty and they found nothing wrong. 2 weeks later it did it 3 times on a short trip down expressway.

Violent side-to-side movement of the front end -??Death wobble-?? when driving over a bump at a certain speed. This is my 2nd Jeep, but my 2013 Wrangler also had the same issue. From my experience, this is a consistent issue with Wranglers / Gladiators that should be investigated and / or addressed with free repairs or extended warranties.

Driving down the Interstate at Interstate speed. Suddenly, the front end started shaking uncontrollably which in turn caused the whole truck to shake violently. I had to slow down immediately. The shaking stopped at 60MPH. The truck is a 2022 Jeep Gladiator with only 47,074, miles. The truck has not been driven off road but just normal driving. Has not been wrecked or has struck any road hazard. The event has been commonly referred to as " Death Wobble". I have read that this is a common occurrence for Jeeps. I had to pay over $800, dollars for repair. There was no rhyme or reason for this occurrence.

This is a known issue with Jeep Gladiators and Wranglers. It-??s called the -??Death Wobble-??. While driving at highway speed(70mph), I hit a bump which caused the entire vehicle to shake including the steering wheel. Once I braked and got the speed below 60 mph, the shaking ceased. This happened close to ten times on the particular 3 hour drive. I knew this was a possibility to happen since my son also has a Gladiator and it happened to his vehicle. It-??s so prevalent there are YouTube videos out there showing it happening. This should be a recall.

Occasionally, while driving on normal roads, my steering wheel locks up completely when I am changing lanes or accelerating. This issue typically resolves only when I reduce my speed to around 20-30 mph. Details: - The problem occurs intermittently and without warning. - No warning lights or error messages appear on the dashboard when this happens. - I have already taken the vehicle to the dealership, but they were unable to identify the cause after performing several checks.

I was driving my Jeep Gladiator on [XXX] Shasta Co, CA, on a snowy mountain highway. I had my husband, two children and two dogs in the vehicle. Without warning the power steering went out. Within 20 seconds a steering wheel light appeared on the dash. Within approximately 20 more seconds, I was able to pull over into a plowed turnout. As soon as we stopped the vehicle we noticed a fire in the engine compartment. We were able to extinguish it within a few minutes with our fire extinguisher. The vehicle has approximately 15000 miles on it and is under warranty. It is currently under inspection to determine if it falls under warranty. Heavy vibration in steering wheel when hit bumps at highway speeds. This started in Nov 2022 when the Jeep was 5 months old. The dealer replaced the steering damper under warranty. It happened again in the summer of 2023. The steering damper was replaced again. It continues to happen and is now at the dealer for the fifth time with the same issue. The dealership confirms the condition reported each time. They do not know how to fix it and suggest new tires as the Bridgestones that came on the vehicle may be causing this issue. No modifications were made to any of these components. It has the original suspension and tires that came with it when purchased new in June 2022.

The vehicle is factory stock with 30,000 miles on it. At highway speeds it experiences what is referred to as the "Jeep Death Wobble" - the vehicle and steering wheel shake violently until I reduce speed to below 50 mph. It is difficult to control and slowing rapidly on the highway is additionally dangerous. It is at a Jeep dealer, but they only want to change the steering dampner. This part is not a real fix - something is loose or not property aligned to cause the shaking. The dampner is a temporary fix that addresses the symptom, not the cause of the shaking. I feel Jeep is not adequately addressing the issue or taking it seriously.

when driving at a high rate of speed typically 70-75 mph on an interstate, the entire vehicle will randomly start violently shaking this is typically triggered when the vehicle hits a bump or a overpass transition on the road. You have to hit the brakes and slow down to at least 45 before the shaking will stop and you can resume driving again. I was between two semi one time this happened. There are no warning lights or indicators. This first happened in Nov 2022, I have had this inoected by the dealership multiple times. They replaced the steering stabilizer in Jan 2023 I had no further issues until June 2023 when it started happening again. It is currently at the dealership again. They said they can-??t test drive it above 60 so they can-??t duplicate the problem. I have video of one of the incidents.

While driving early march vehicles front wheels started shaking uncontrollable with the only way to stop it was slowing down to 45 mph in the middle of the freeway. Vehicle was taken to the dealership for what they called the Death Wobble, the part they said was needed was on backorder with no ship date. This morning the same wabble started again only this time I was almost hit by another car when I had to slow to 45 mph for Wobble to stop. This is a very dangerous situation that could happen at any moment and the only way to stop the wobble is slowing down. The manufacturer is very much aware of this and cannot supply the parts needed to fix this.
