For the hitch recall, I was told the hitch would be inspected, and they would decide if it needed to be removed. If it was removed, they would decide if it could be replaced or not. If they decided it couldn't be replaced, my Jeep would be returned without a hitch. I would then be referred to a body shop to install a new hitch at a "very high cost." Since I only use the Jeep as a tow vehicle, it is worthless to me without a hitch. If they remove the hitch, they should be responsible for replacing the hitch.
