Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 140,000 miles

Very annoying intermittent stalling very difficult to find cause. Very inexpensive solution. Clean and secure with tie straps the three connectors to the ECM. It seems trivial but it actually works.

In case your not sure if this is the same problem as your car, see if you relate to this. It starts by the engine missing a beat and almost stalling, it gets progressively worse until one day it stalls. Then it stalls more frequent, at first usually when the engine is cold and in hot temperature then just about any time while at a stop sign or just driving down the street or at a red light. At first when it stalls it starts right back up, later, it takes longer to start. This happened over a period of about 2 to 3 months. Meanwhile spending time and money changing parts that don't need replacing to begin with.

By the way, I did put the computer to it various times and it gave me some codes that were unrelated to the problem. After taking care of the problems giving the codes, the stalling continued without showing any codes on the computer. Hope this post helps someone.
