The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The hydraulics don't hold the hood up in the open position. Hood came down on the consumer, but they were able to catch it before any injuries were sustained. Dealership serviced the hood, but problem recurred. The consumer stated that the hood still falls down. Hydraulic arms do not hold and three is no safety arm substitute.

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Hood gas shocks that hood the hood up have failed and the hood will not stay in the up position. This is very dangerous, the first time this happens you are not expecting the hood to fall and luckly I got out of the way or would of suffered a severe head impact.
