Front brake rotors and pads replaced 4 times in 40,000miles. Chrysler even replaced them and front calipers the first time. The last time they were replacd was a month before the accident. For the 4th time, steering wheel and pedal vibrate when braking suddenly.I lost control and rolled the 2000 Grand Cherokee into a guard rail.

Multiple problems with front brakes.
- Island Lake, IL, USA
While applying the brakes, the pedal went to the floor and the vehicle shook uncontrollably. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and the mechanic determined that the pads and rotors needed to be replaced. Consumer informed the dealer that this problem occurred more than once, and problem had not resolved. Problem still exists. There was an oil leak found at the left rear axle seal. Updated 02/20/07.

I had a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with about 35,000 miles on it. In the course of my ownership (about 3 years) I had the brakes worked on at least 3 times. The first time they replaced the rotors, the second time they replaced the rotors and the calipers. The 3rd time (after the warranty period) they replaced something else and then had the gall to charge me for it. Fixing brakes at a rate of about every 12,000 miles is absolutely outrageous. I can't believe this vehicle has not been recalled to actually correct the problem. It is a serious problem that can cause loss of control of the vehicle.

While I am generally very satisfied with my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I am writing to complain about a chronic problem I have experienced. In 2000, when the vehicle was very new, I noticed vibration in the steering wheel. My Jeep was repaired for warped rotors and the brake pads were replaced and the rotors cut. Then, in 03/02, I had the same problem and the vehicle was repaired for the second time. Then again in 03/03, the same problem! this time, the folks at ramsey Jeep told me that they were installing a "kit" that would solve the problem for good. At this time, I was very happy to know that Jeep realized the problem and thought my troubles were over. Now in 04/04, I am sorry to report that I am experiencing the same vibration in the steering wheel and I don't need the technicians at Jeep to tell me what the problem is. The rotors will require replacement for the fourth time in $60000 miles.

This was a decent truck while under warranty. Since standard warranty has ended have had numerous rotors and pads about 8000 miles each (3) times. Stereo speakers (infinity) 2 pair. Now all power locks and actuators are bad, along with a grinding noise when you put the thing in reverse. Response from dealer (2) and the diamler. Normal, wear and tear, could not duplicate. I have spent about $3500 on this vehicle on just garbage failures, not to mention pm's. this vehicle only has 71000 miles on it and was bought new. This is the 3rd and last Dodge product I will own.

I own a 2000 Jeep grand cheerokee with 52,000 miles. Today I brought the vehicle in for the 4th time to have the rotors resurfaced due to warping. The dealership has also replaced the calipers and pads on the front and back of my vehicle. The dealer is very aware of the problem and said it is only a matter of time until the brakes are recalled. In the meantime, I am driving an unsafe vehicle.

When the consumer attempted to make a gradual stop and applied the brake pedal there was excessive pulsation. Consumer contacted the dealer. The dealer will replace the rotors and pads in attempt to correct the problem. Both front and rear brake rotors had excessive run out and were resurfaced.

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4X4 V6. The steering wheel and brake pedal would pulsate horribly and shake when applying the brakes. This problem was due to the front rotors which were not covered under warranty eventhough there are 2 technical bulletins from Jeep covering this problem. Dealer replaced the front rotors, calipers, and pads as suggested by the bulletins. #0500302 - cost of the repair: $552.22.(2) dealer informed me after fixing my brakes that the the rear differential has a high-pitched axle. This is caused by a faulty rear differential which needs to be redone. Not covered under warranty. #0300302A - estimated cost of repair $932,
