On vacation traveling through New Mexico at the posted speed limit of 75 mph on IH40, when the brakes were applied a violent shimmy or pulsation in the front end occured which was translated to the steering wheel making control of the vehicle questionable. Chrysler road assistance was contacted and they recommended hatch motor co. In show low, Arizona which was our destination. Hatch removed and turned the front rotors which was not covered by either the original waranty or the extended waranty. The problem was improved but not completely eliminated. On the return trip to carrollton, Texas, the problem continued to worsen. Upon our return home, the vehicle was taken to the dealer, huffines, who turned the rotors a second time stating that this was normal and that all rotors needed turning at 30,000 miles. Again, this work was not covered by either of the warantys. My previous vehicle was a 1995 Land Rover discovery and after more than 90,000 miles, the rotors had never been turned and the brakes were perfect. Something is basically wrong with the original installation, design or quality of these rotors. They should not fail at such low milage and in such a dangerous fashion. Please insist that Chrysler do something about this problem before someone is killed or seriously injured. Nlm

The rotors on this vehicle need to be resurfaced at 20,000 miles. Dealer will not do so under warranty, even though many Jeep owers have had this problem with their vehicles. Mechanics all but admitted it was a chronic problem with the vehicle. I feel this is a safety issue and a rip off to consumers. This is my 2nd Jeep purchase, but will be my last if restitution is not made. Vehicle is too new to need this kind of major work done to it for it's mileage.

I bought my 2000 Jeep Cherokee new in 2000, currently have 27,000 miles on it and about to have the rotors replaced for the 4th time. Rotors warp every 5000 to 6000 miles to a point where the car is undriveable. The dealer continues to deny that there is an issue with the Jeep and the rotor warping is due to stop and go driving, which is idiotic.

Rotors are warping at 15,000 mile intervals. Dealer says they are having numerous complaints regarding warped brake rotors but they say not covered under warranty. They claim the rotors are not made durable enough (thick enough) for the vehicle. When the rotors warp the vehicle vibrates when the brakes are applied. In my opinion it would appear the mfg is using defective rotors since the brake pads are outlasting the rotors. Rotors should not need to be replaced or turned at 15,000 mile intervals.ts.

Dealer contacted because brakes pulsating and uneven stopping. Dealer replaced rotors were warped.dealer said rotors were warped due to heat generation. This is been going on from the time I had this car till today without resolution. Chrysler knows anout it and do not know what to do other than replace the rotors with the same rotors and the same thing keeps happening every 3-4 months since I owned this vehicle. I have replaced the rotors 4 times know and my car still has warped rotors and Chrysler does not know what to do. When I brake in hugh speeds abruptly the shattering is so intense that I might loose control of the vehicle. I do not know to whom to talk to fix the problem. Other people I have talked to have the same problem with the same car. We are going to create the warped rotor club. It is sad for Chrysler representative to not know what to do on a safety matter like this. I would appreciate an advise.

The brake rotors on this vehicle have warped 3 times now almost causing the car to veer out of control. When you apply the brakes the steering wheel shimmies very bad and its hard to control the car. The dealer has fixed this problem twice and now again at 37,000 miles the brake rotors are warped again.. this defect will eventually get someone injured or worse if Chrysler won't fix it the right way. This is the 3rd time that the brake rotors have warped on this vehicle in 2 years. When you step on the brake pedal the steering wheel shimmies so bad its hard to control the car. It has been fixed twice before at the dealer and now again the brake rotors are warped. This seems to happen every 12 to 14 thousand miles. I have never had a car do this before in such a short time. Chrsyler told me to bad that they are not fixing it again. There is positively a design flaw with this vehicle and Chrysler must find the fix for it and recall all of these cars before many people get hurt. The dealer has been helpful but thet will not pay to fix it anymore and told me to call Chrysler which I did to no availe. The service manager even told me that the company knows there is a problem with the rotors but can't figure out how to fix it and make it stay fixed. There needs to be something done about Chrysler. They should repair these brakes on every car for as long as people own them. The problem is theirs and we as consumers are bearing the brunt of it. Jeeps are expensive to buy and the brakes should last more than a few thousand miles.

Warped rotors at 20K miles - dealer says I have poor driving habits and they will not cover the rotors any more. We will see about that! next is the power steering groan made when making slow right hand turns - dealer replaced gear box once. Now the noise is happening intermittently - dealer can't fix because they are not able to duplicate noise. After reading these complaints on this web site something needs to be done for a long term fix. I can get dealer to repair again at no cost this time but I do not want to go through this again 4 K miles from now. Nt.

There is vibration coming from front of the vehicle during activation of brake system. Vibration increases in severity when speed of vehicle increases.
