My daughter bought the Jeep GC in 2005, at that time we took it too the dealer she bought it off in Penticton BC to have the problem looked at. During hot temperatures of the summer of 100 degree F/ 35 Degree Celsius only when the AC was on the engine would over heat. they changed the thermostat and said that was the problem. it never went away and once the cooler weather came she didn't care. I had many shops look at the problem, no one could figuire it out. then the transmission went, that cost $5000.00we still had the AC problem and the engine overheating. Within a year it went again and the computor scan finally showed a plugged flow or low flow of transmission fluid, the rad transmission cooler was plugged. we put a new rad in (1000.00) and had the trany fixed again, $2500.00 more dollars.
the jeep runs awesome now and goes like a jet, lots of power, no cooling issues. I do believe that the problem could have been solved in 2005 by having the radiator changed. Though that it would be good info for other Grand Jeep cherokee owners out there.
