The vehicle's brakes and rotors have had to be repaired often. The consumer was told that the rotors were too small for the vehicle. The consumer heard a pop noise when taking off or stopping intermittently. The vehicle shimmied at 60 mph and when the vehicle slowed down. Oil leaked from the front differential. The vehicle door lock made a bad grinding noise when the consumer used they key to access the vehicle.

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4X4 V6. The steering wheel and brake pedal would pulsate horribly and shake when applying the brakes. This problem was due to the front rotors which were not covered under warranty eventhough there are 2 technical bulletins from Jeep covering this problem. Dealer replaced the front rotors, calipers, and pads as suggested by the bulletins. #0500302 - cost of the repair: $552.22.(2) dealer informed me after fixing my brakes that the the rear differential has a high-pitched axle. This is caused by a faulty rear differential which needs to be redone. Not covered under warranty. #0300302A - estimated cost of repair $932,

Rear differential: Complete lockup at 55 mph !!! as I traveled down a county hwy to just outside of town after work. Almost killed 2 pedestrians as the back end skidded 100 ft in complete lockup, dealer replacing the rear axle and looking at the front differential since it seems to have problems caused by this sudden failure of the back. Brakes: I have had rotors turned 3 times (twice by dealer under warranty and once by independent shop) and since purchased complete new rotors and pads on all 4 tires work by midas due to severe pulsation when braking. Transfer case bad on delivery. Snap ring not installed unit replaced. Brake rotors warp every 20K miles. Replaced with aftermarket at 40K.. steering column clunk and feels loose. Dealer replaced with new, same problem exists. Excessive clunking and looseness in driveline. Loud clunk park to reverse dealer says normal but lots of complaints.

The quadra drive system includes the differential, transmission, and gerotor couplings and pumps. When the automatic transmission is shifting from one gear to the next it hesitates in neutral long enough for all the power to be transferred to the front wheels. When the transimssion does engage the next gear all of the power is transferred back to the rear wheels resulting in a loud thud. I do not know how the vehicle would respond when road conditions were not optimal. The manufacture response has been they have not been able to duplicate the problem.
