Was stopped at a service station, when I placed the car into gear it lurched back as it passed through reverse, and then went forward at full throttle. The Jeep cannot be put into gear without depressing the brakes. The brakes did not hold when the vehicle was a full throttle. If I had not driven it into a pole I would have hit numerous other cars. The Jeep dealer was unable to find any problem with the vehicle. I am very certain that I had my foot on the brake and not on the accelerator.

1999/2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4X4(both) same problem(s). Warped rotors/hub Chrysler, South, milwaukee, wi replaced sets of rotors/pads on 1999 - twice/2002- twice so far. 2002 has 24,000, replaced when at 8500/18,000. Chrysler just won't admit to problem. Just replaced tires due to uneven front tire wear($300+) tired of it! tried to say I hadn't rotated tires. That's a joke - religiously rotate tires no more than 5,000 mi prior to each rotation.

When applying the brakes, the brake pedal would pumped up and down and the steering wheel would shimmy up and down and to the left and right. The higher the speed the worse the problem. When I brought it to the dealership I insisted that the service manager take a ride with me. He only had to drive it a short distance before he knew exactly what the problem was. He said the rotors were warped. I asked if that was normal, especially with such low mileage. He told me that it was an ongoing problem that Chrysler new about. When the rotors heated up they were not cooling down properly due to a defect which in turn causes the rotors to warp. He said they instructed to tell owners that the problem was due to wear and tear and that it was not covered by the warranty, therefore passing the expense on to the customer. He also told me that if the customer complained to Chrysler, and only then, would Chrysler fix the problem at no charge and would put the repairs under a "good will warranty". the service manager said he would not put me through the trouble and automatically put it under the "good will warranty". especially since I have had numerouse other problems with the Jeep since the first day I drove it off the lot. I've had the check engine light come on 4 times. Each time it was a different deffective part. I've also had electrical problems which caused the dome lights to flash on and off, all sorts of beeping noises and numerous other distractions in the interior. It's also left me stranded on the New Jersey turnpike

Consumer complained about a brake problem. Consumer took vehicle to the dealer, and was told that the brakes were pulsating and whipped the steering wheel back and forth. Consumer talked to the service manager and the manufacturer, and was told that warranty expired, and they won't repair without charging the consumer. There has been a front brake rotor problem since 3/06/02. Vehicle still has problem.

Electrical problems, check engine light, beep under dash, dome lights coming on, radio goes off, all dash lights(ABS, brake, etc.). transmission problems 3 times in shop for slipping and leaking seals. Leaking at pan, output seal and, drive train they changed seals and 1 month later output seal was leaking again. Govern assembly was replaced 8/3/03 along with solenoid, transduce. Faulty batteries. Shocks all leaking but they replaced 1 front 1 back.

While my daughter was driving our 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee on slippery roads she slid into an intersection and was hit by another vehicle. My daughter claimed she was going slowly and when the brakes were applied felt a shudder and the car did not stop. To check her story we took the car to a brake shop. They told us the brakes were defective. They could tell by the very uneven wear. 75% warn on 1 side of both front brakes. 25% wear on the other side.

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee that I bought new last September. I had trouble with the brakes. Last March because it was necessary to pump them. The dealership said that I was probably defeating the ABS, and that's why they depressed so far to the floor. Today I was having a problem with the brake pedal squeaking. They told me it was "normal" and that it was the master cylinder. I asked if was normal, would it then be on most other Jeep Grand Cherokee and they said they didn't know but thought it was. They then said that maybe there was a problem that Jeep needed to know about. They are going to replace the master cylinder but I thought you should know because this seems to be ongoing. Thank you.

4-11-02 while attempting to stop for left turning vehicle, car accelerated while brake applied, neccessitating driver to run onto shoulder to avoid collision with left turning vehicle.5-01-02 while stopping to enter roadway from parkinglot car accererated while brake applied, causing car to move into oncoming traffic. 6-6-02 while going through drive-thru at mcdonald's, car accelerated while brake applied, stopping within inches of preceding vehicle. 5-1-02 adam's installed co-Pilot. 6-6-02 co-Pilot activated and car taken in for 3rd time. Again told could not find anything. Requested call from Chrysler rep. Steve grimwood phoned on 6-13-02 said cannot duplicate what was reported wrong with vehicle, so cannot repair. Have seen atty. Since, but do not want to drag this out and am afraid of vehicle harming someone. Please advise.

Prior to the accident I had noticed on a couple of occasions that when I tried to park at a slow speed, pressed the brake, the car continued to move forward. I took my foot off the brake and reapplied it, which stopped the forward movement. Then I was able to park the car without incident. On the day of the accident (5/22/02), I noticed a car 40-50 yards in front of me half way into a right turn. I applied the brakes and the car slowed down and within 10-15 yards of the vehicle in front of me, I realized that the car was moving forward even though my foot was on the brake. In order to avoid hitting the other car flush from the rear, I swerved the Jeep to the left and struch his left rear light a glancing blow. At that point I stopped the car by reapplying my foot to the brake. I was traveling approximately 5 mph. I took the car in to buerge Chrysler Jeep, the brakes system was examined by my service man who agreed with me that the brake pedal is very soft and went all the way to the floor. I asked him to see if the brake fluid was low. He said that Chrysler would bring in an independant investigator. On wed. 5/29/02, I received a call from the investigator who said that his report would be submitted in 10 days. I was told that the special investigator said the car could be released to me and that, in fact, there were no problems that he could find. I asked the service manager to reexamine the car and drive with me, and he said that the biggest problem in these situations were a defect is intermittant and is not always obvious. One other incident occurred when I depressed the brake, it made an unusual wooshing sound which I had not heard before and the brake pedal depressed to the floor.

While driving lost control of vehicle and hit another vehicle. Upon impact, none of the airbags deployed. Consumer also states that the ABS failed, three people were injured in the accident.
