I experienced brake failure on my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee (59,000 miles). After braking to turn a corner the brakes would not work. This occurred over several instances and became very un-nerving not knowing when the brakes would work. I took it to the Jeep dealer and he stated that he replaced the master cylinder. He also said it was not covered by the brake recall so I had to pay several hundred dollars to get it repaired out of my own pocket. I contacted Jeep and they were no help and wouldn't agree to pay anything.

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee that I bought new last September. I had trouble with the brakes. Last March because it was necessary to pump them. The dealership said that I was probably defeating the ABS, and that's why they depressed so far to the floor. Today I was having a problem with the brake pedal squeaking. They told me it was "normal" and that it was the master cylinder. I asked if was normal, would it then be on most other Jeep Grand Cherokee and they said they didn't know but thought it was. They then said that maybe there was a problem that Jeep needed to know about. They are going to replace the master cylinder but I thought you should know because this seems to be ongoing. Thank you.
