The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle's power steering failed without warning. The contact, who is a mechanic, inspected his vehicle. He stated that the top connector of the power steering hose had failed and all the fluid leaked out. The current and failure mileages were 60,000.

Power steering hose developed a leak due to poor design which caused loss of assist, vehicle was taken to dealership for repairs where the power steering pump and pressure hose were replaced. Dealer would not cover any of the cost.

I noticed power steering fluid leaking from my car. The pump was replaced and fluid continues to leak. When I had my mechanic ask Chrysler about it, the rep said that there is a defect in the actual hose which causes fluid to leak. In my opinion if Chrysler knows about this, and a possible loss of fluid while driving, why don't they fix it.

When turning right, and only right, there is a rubbing or squealing noise coming from the steering column. It occurs after the car has been running and only when slowly turning the wheel. Daimler Chrysler is aware of the problem and has a hydraulic kit set up to fix it. The dealership will repair the problem but the consumer must pay for it.

While turning at any speed driver heard a loud noise coming from the steering wheel. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection numerous time, and mechanic replaced the hose once, but problem recurred. However, mechanic could not duplicate the problem.
