I have owned my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo for 10 years. I purchased the car new from Liberty auto city in libertyville, il. At 80,000 miles, I was leaving for school when I noticed my driver side window had fallen into the door. When I tried to use the switch to raise the window, it did not work. I took this car to the dealership, they knew right away that I had a problem with the window regulator, and they fixed it to the tune of $400. The dealership knew what it was because they have fixed so many, and the novice internet surfer would be able to search out this problem and find a myriad of complaints from Grand Cherokee and Liberty owners alike. I understand a class action lawsuit was filed in California by Jeep Liberty drivers, and Jeep has since extended the warranty on Liberty windows. Jeep reimbursed me $300 of the $400 dollars for this first incident. Now, last Sunday, I was leaving my home to work the night shift at the hospital, and I noticed the passenger window was rolled all the way down - sure enough, the same thing happened to the other window. I drove to work in a snow storm with the passenger window rolled down. Now Jeep will not reimburse me for the regulator, which again cost $400 to replace. Again, my new Jeep dealership, fletcher auto in columbia, Missouri, knew exactly what the problem was because they also have seen it often with vehicles from this time period. I urge you to act to create a recall for this known defective part that has caused significant trouble and expense. I was not in danger, but I had to be at work to cover my shift, so I drove in the storm and had to leave my car in an open air unguarded parking garage with the window down all night. I believe Jeep should be held accountable for this. I apologize for not providing my VIN#, I am actually working in the hospital right now for another shift.

I would like someone to check into the type of product that Chrysler (Jeep) to be specific is using on their windows. I have a 2002/and 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo at this time only one window is operable that being the passenger side, the other three windows have to be taped up, to stay up, the windows can not be fully secured which causes rain to enter the vehicle, and also dampness when sitting out overnight. This also occurs when driving at night, when I explained this problem to Chrysler I was told this was not a safety issue I beg to differ trying to not have it raining on you when driving or coming in the other windows is a safety issue they explained that the vehicles were out of warranty I did not know there was a warranty on safety. The web site shows there are thousands of this particular model with the same problem a high power needs to step up and investigate the inferior products being used by this company Chrysler wants to fall on deaf ears rather than back its product that is one reason that imports are a much more popular vehicle, though they also have some problems, but it seems that the foreign auto makers are willing to back their product they have pride in their selves unlike american mfgs.

In May 2009 my passenger front window regulator went out. My local Jeep dealership said that Jeep makes cheap window regulator parts and this is a common problem with Jeep. Yet they wanted to charge me $497 to fix problem. I went ahead and fixed it, because I couldn't drive around with a window rolled down everywhere I went. Now 5 months later the passenger rear window has also broken, due to the same problem and the sunroof will also not close properly. I feel that if Jeep admits to using cheap parts for their windows, then they should also fix them for free when they break so often. I cannot afford close to $500 per window every 6 months when they keep breaking.

The cost for the relay pkg was $347.59 I have yet to replace passengerside window operator and driverside door locks as they are both well over $300 each. This seems to be a defect as I have heard the same complaints from people that own 2002 Jeep Cherokee.

I own a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. In the spring of 2007, my driver's side window regulator broke (the window fell, would not roll up or down). I had it replaced. In October 2007, the same thing happened to my passenger side window. In May 2008, the same to my right rear passenger window, and in Sept 2008, the same to my left rear passenger window. All windows have failed within one year of each other. The final straw was today when the rear drivers side window regulator failed again. I do not have the money to fix these, and believe that Chrysler should issue a recall to repair the windows. I have received an estimate of $347 per window to repair the three windows. I can't afford this and expect Jeep to correct the problems.

I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have had to have 3 window regulators replaced. I only have one left, who knows when that will go, perhaps next year, because it seems one breaks per year. I have had each of these replaced at a Chrysler dealer. Chrysler is quite aware that this is a problem with it's vehicles, but is unwilling to do anything about it, because it is not a "safety issue". this part with labor is $460 each time it needs to be replaced. Chrysler is willing to keep draining the pockets of its consumers with no care to its loyal customers. There are 5 pages of complaints on automotive.com with the same issues. I want to file an official complaint. Chrysler is unwilling to do anything to correct the problem, because the vehicle is no longer under warranty. I would like my money back. I think this car is a lemon!!!! I have put more money into this vehicle over the last two years then I have paid for the car. I hope you can help me retrieve some of my financial losses.

My research shows that this is a common recurring problem among Jeep owners, and that the repair is approx. $400 for each incident. Given the hundreds of owner reports I have since discovered for this exact problem, Chrysler should issue a recall to both improve the quality of the part(s) and remedy the problem.

We have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee and since the first month that we purchased it nwe we have had problems with the window regulators breaking. We have now had four to break in the five years that we have had the vehicle. The first one that broke was repaired under warranty, but the other three have taken place since the beginning of August of this year. The first window regulator that we had to have repaired by the dealership cost $422. We have not had the other two windows fixed yet, because we are hoping that daimler Chrysler will help us out with this. I have contacted the customer service center and they will not cover the malfunction due to the warranty expiring. I feel this is an eventual safety issue. When the cable snaps it sounds like a shot gun firing, which could cause the driver to react to the noise. More than anything, I find it to be a manufacturing defect that consumer nation wide are having to pay for. I have read hundreds of similar problems of Jeep Grand Cherokee owners on car forum websites on the internet.
