: the contact stated while attempting to apply brake pressure at various speeds the brakes vibrated. This occurred without warning during normal braking on normal roads. The dealership determined the brakes and pads needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was alerted.

I own two Jeep Grand Cherokee 2003 models, both purchased in Dec 2002. Both of these vehicles have had brake problems, consisting of warpped brake rotors. I have owned 9 Jeep Grand Cherokee since 1992. 6 of the nine Jeep have had brake problems. 4 of those Jeep have had their brakes repaired or replaced at no charge to me. However the 2003 Jeep I currently own have the same problem. I have had them both repaired in 2004 and I am having the same problem in 2005. One of the Jeep has 13,000 miles since the 2004 repair and the second one has 7570 miles on it since the 2004 repair. My understanding of the problem is that the calipers used to apply pressure to the brake pads never fully release, therefore there is always some pressure being applied to the rotor and the rotor is warpped from the heat caused by the pad being constantly in contact with the rotor.

After conducting business at a drive in bank consumer proceeded to leave. Consumer placed foot on the accelerator and the vehicle accelerated. Then, he applied the emergency brake, however, it did not stop the vehicle. It stroke a four foot embankment, the only thing that stopped the vehicle was a concrete retaining wall, which was struck at 30 mph. Upon impact, the air bags did not deploy, the emergency brake and the anti lock brakes did not kick in.

At 18,000 miles the brakes had to be replaced twice. Consumer contacted Jeep, and they will not do anything to assist the consumer.

While applying the brakes steering wheel started shaking uncontrollably. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it home. Consumer contacted the dealer, and informed him that this problem occurred more than once, and still had not been resolved.
