The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the brake pedal wobbled horizontally. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake pedal needed to be repaired. The contact stated that the dealer was informed by corporate to not install the part and refused to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

2004 Jeep with 42K miles- the brake peddle has one inch of lateral movement. The dealer plans to replace the peddle assy. For about $1,000. My foot has slipped off the pedal when my shoes were wet. I am told that it can not be tighten up only replaced. To me this seems the problem is in the design on the brake linkage, and not due to normal were and tear. Its just a matter of time.

: the contact stated the motor to the adjustable pedals became inoperable causing the accelerator and brake pedals to be out of alignment. The accelerator pedal moved down and the brake pedal moved up. The vehicle was driven to the dealer who determined the motor needed to be replaced.

While applying the brake on 5 separate occasions, the consumer applied the brake and the accelerator pedal simultaneously. This condition caused the vehicle to accelerate unexpectedly. The dealer was notified and was aware of this issue.
