problem #2

Grand Cherokee Rocky Mountain Edition 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 122,000 miles

About four months ago the dash lights started coming on and off while the vehicle was being operated. Then when I shut the vehicle off the engine light would stay on. The engine light would eventually go off, but the dash lights would still come on and off. I can also hear the controls for the heat/ac cycling inside the dash, just prior to completely turning on the vehicle. Driving me crazy.......

disco dashboard lights

OK so if you watch the video you will see what happens. ALL of the lights start flashing on and off, the gauges all die. It is really frustrating. It will start with all of the lights on the dash coming on. then they go out. sometimes it a couple times then it doesn't do it for a day or week or month. when the lights go out notice the engine light stays on or tire light....

So upon taking the truck to the dealer THEY CANT FIND anything wrong.... Truck does not show / throw any codes. I even drove the truck into my private mechanic WHILE it was doing this, left it running and they still cant diagnosis the problem. It is a ghost issue that cant be fixed.

So the problem has been thru most of my owning this truck I have been to the dealer and so far they replaced on different occasions HOPING to fix the problem..... the clock switch, Ignition switch, the ignition harness, the harness in the steering column..the coupler on the harness in the steering column....... this stuff was done while under warranty so it did not cost anything then.. But now they want to replace a bunch more things to see if the can fix a problem...... http://youtu.be/Vf0dxsglAUY - is the latest and greatest show.

This is my 4th Jeep, from 85CJ, 89pioneer, 95 grand to this 05grand. I have never had an issue with anything I have owned - THIS IS RIDICULOUS, when I complain to jeep they tell me I have to see a dealership. What a joke I see now other people have same problem.....

Update from Dec 13, 2012: Oh yea and when the headlights are on Auto setting (night time) and this takes place they also start flashing. so I then have to turn the switch to the manual setting.

Update from Dec 13, 2012: So the dealer tried to keep replacing parts cant fix the problem........ When I complained to the JEEP company they told me SORRY you have to see a dealer to fix the problem - talk about jerking you around. I wish I knew the lemon laws when this all started. Maybe the bail out money should have come to us instead - so we could have bought something else. Never had so many issues with JEEP before this truck - just ridiculous, and they don't care about us little people they got their money from us and that all the matters.

The 2013 jeep grand WAS looking so good, but not worth the service and lack of to get another one
