Ignition shut vehicle down as I was driving on the highway aprox 65-70mph. Loss of power brakes and steering, if there was an accident the airbags would not deploy due to car thinking the key is in the off position. Is a current recall but no parts are available and was told it was safe to drive. Has occurred multiple times, I removed key and keychains from the key as instructed but it continues to happen.

My front passenger side seat air bags warning lights keeps going on and off, when I position the passenger side seat forward or back don't know why it does that or my head lights flickers while driving on and off, had this problem since I purchase this car from the Jeep dealer in December 2005, now realizing it could be electrical problem in the starting ignition switch, need to play with the wires under the passenger side seat to reset the warning light to stop blinking and warning sound to stop or the air bag light on the dash will flash showing it is off.

Jeep about had the one the airbag light comes on, I take it to the dealer where I purchased the seat buckle, a year later light goes on, I take it back to the dealer and they replace the buckle again. 6 months later light goes back on the warranty had just past but the dealer fixed it again. 6 months later the light goes back on and I go back to the dealer and they went out of business, I took it to another dealer and told them what happened they charged me $150 to tell me that I had to replace the entire seat belt harness, I already new that. So I just kept diving it, around 2011 the lights and all gauges started to go out as I was driving no gauges at all no break light no headlights, everything just blinks for a few min, than back to normal, I went on line to see how big the problem was and there is a lot of people that is having the same problem. I took it to the dealer and they told me that it could be a lot of things, I told them it was the ignition, while driving if I hold on the key in the ignition and move it around all the gauges and lights start to flash. I told that to the dealer and they told me that it would cost me to look into it and try to fix it, in know its the ignition one day while I am driving at night my lights are going to turn off or even the engine and get into an accident. There is a big problem with the 2005 Jeep and Chrysler does not want to do a recall.

I was sitting at a red light and a Florida state trooper was behind me, also stopped. When the light turned green, the cars in front of me started to move forward so I took my foot off of the brake to ease forward, awaiting to hit the gas when the trooper hit his gas, slamming into the back of my Jeep so hard that it lifted the back of my Jeep up and forced the front end to hit the vehicle in front of me at the bottom of his rear bumper - pushing me forward into the car in front of me approximately 7 feet. My Jeep stalled during the hit but the air bags did not deploy.

I saw the news this morning that Chrysler Jeep has admitted to a defect where the Jeep Cherokee (2005) turns off unexpectedly and there are issues with the airbag. My Jeep has turned off/stalled soon after I have started driving it on a number of occasions. It sort of stalls with no power going to the engine and then a few seconds later kicks in and moves. This usually happens right after I pull out of a parking space or pull away from the curb to start driving in a lane of traffic. I have brought the car in and discussed the problem a couple times and been told there is no problem. As a separate or related issue, during one of my first services at a Jeep dealership when I left the dealership warning lights turned on -- I went back to have the issue addressed and was finally told on the fourth visit that there was a faulty software upgrade and not to worry unless a light went on and stayed on (I didn't have time to pursue the issue and I got no where with the dealership). More recently it has been the airbag light that goes on and off (if is now off). Finally, I went to the Chrysler website this morning and entered my VIN and was told there was no recall or notices. I hope that the NHTSA requires Chrysler to address this issue and/or it is addressed through a class action.

Every time while driving the air bag light on dash is always on. Then upon driving, suddenly the seat belt alarm starts buzzing even though all seat belts are latched properly. Then the engine light will come on. Shortly after the dash goes completely black. All alarms and lights go out along with the heating/ac. This is on a routine basis.

The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the engine was started and the air bag warning indicator illuminated continuously until the engine was turned off. In addition, the horn would not function when activated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The technician advised that the air bag clock spring was faulty. There was a recall associated with the 2002 and 2003 model years under NHTSA campaign id number 12V527000 (air bags:frontal:sensor/control module) but not the 2005 model. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

The air bag light turned on so I took it in to mack massey Jeep dealership on 950 crockett St.in el paso, tx. The person advising me from the mechanics department told me I was very lucky to take it in when I did because some part having to do with the air bags had melted & my airbags could have opened up at any time. He said he deactivated all the airbags in my vehicle. The total to have them fixed was way more than I can afford. It also affected the center seat belt so I don't have a seat belt as well. I don't think any part of the original parts should be melting with nothing more than the sun heat.

My daughter's 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee was rear ended by another car going 90mph. She was sent airborne, flipped end over end & rolled on the side before coming to rest upright. The front of her Jeep was gone but the air bags did not deploy, we were told by the wrecker service that they could not believe the air bag did not deploy. She hit her head on the drivers side window and steering wheel during the roll. Here ear also hit the wheel and was cut by the glass from the windshields/windows. We have contacted Chrysler but were told that the bags would not have deployed under these conditions. When the car nose dived into the embankment after being airborne and flipped over, I would think that would have deployed the airbags.

Like many I have read my airbag warning light has been coming on intermittently. I've read this is likely a clock spring failure. The light has been coming on for about 2 weeks with a "ding" noise and the dashboard light. This happens while driving. It happens frequently (every couple of minutes). Researched on internet to see what the cause may be and noticed that many others are reporting the exact same issue with the 1999 to 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee's. they have been told it was a clock spring failure and made to pay $310+ to have it fixed.

As I drive my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee( hemi)the vehicle simply shuts off. All the lights on the dashboard turn on then the car turns off. I end up with no control. Sometimes this happens and then the vehicle turns on all by itself while im driving. About a week after I purchased it, I had this problem but the dealer said it was fine. As I took it to the gas station across the street, it happened. The dealership employees witnessed it and were nice enough to run over and pushed the vehicle back to the shop. They said they couldn't find anything but replaced the battery just in case. Since then it happens at once every two months. Currently, I have an airbag issue. The dealer cannot seem to repair any of these issues. The airbag lights turn on indicated the airbags are off because it does not sense anyone on the seats. It has been to the dealership 3 times for this issue and I am waiting for a call back to return it so they can install an ECM. They think it may be the issue. This will be the fourth visit for the airbags. Seems the vehicle has a lot of electrical problems. I have not driven the vehicle since December 22nd. It is now Feb 25. I am afraid of going over the warranty miles.
