The ignition I believe lost connection with the key fob. Multiple times while driving the vehicle will randomly just die. An when trying to start sometimes it does nothing unless you push key in a certain way.

I recently bought my 2006 Grand Cherokee limited and a few times in the past week I have been driving through a parking lot or pulling into a driveway and the Jeep completely dies. I have had my Jeep inspected I recently bought my 2006 Grand Cherokee limited and a few times in the past week I have been driving through a parking lot or pulling into a driveway and the Jeep completely dies, no steering or brakes. When you put it into neutral it will restart as if nothing ever happened. I have had my Jeep inspected and there are no codes or anything to find specifically. The other issue I am having is that when I am driving at highway speeds the dash lights, air, and radio go out and flicker. You can't see your speed and the gauges go bizerk. I did some research and found many testimonials which I have attached to this complaint of people having the same issue. One women was even going through an intersection making a left hand turn and hers died and she lost steering and ended up going into oncoming traffic. This is not ok people! we need to hold Chrysler/Dodge accountable for the building of the car. Insurance companies need to know about this. And most.... a class action lawsuit needs to be filed if there already hasn't been. You don't just make vehicles and when it has problems to this extent continue allowing people with families to drive your vehicles with no pinpoint issue available to fix. Families are spending thousands of dollars replacing what "could" be wrong and still not fixing the issue or getting any help from the people who built the issue. Everywhere I look and everyone I contact say these issues could be a number of things but yet Chrysler has failed to have a system that spits out codes directly pointing out the issue in turn creating a greater safety issue on the roads. Who knows, maybe the next Jeep that dies will take out someone you love.

I got in a head on collision on July 11 in the city of paramount. I was at a red light making a left as soon as it turn green I went into motion lost control making a wide left turn and went into the side walk. I hit a cement trash can and a cement wall as well none of my air bags came out. Both insurance and the body shop where the Jeep is now stated that it was odd the air bags didn't come out. They stated that the hit was big and the bags should have came out. I hit front on my whole front end was damaged bumper, lights, grill.I hit my face in the steering wheel causing my lip to bust open and I hit my head as well in the top left side handle. My insurance noted that the vehicle is a total loss due to frame damage.I didn't go to the hospital because of the max capacity so I've been taking over the counter pills for my back, head and shoulder pain I also been seen a naturalist for my muscle spasms.

I have been dealing with this Jeep Grand Cherokee issue for years now. At one point there was a recall on the ignition switch and it was replaced at the local Chrysler dealer. The issue I have is identical to the one in the link attached. Up until a few weeks ago, I lived with it. Now the issue has turned dangerous because it also affects the ability to brake and turn. When the brakes seemed compromised, I took the Jeep in for repair but they were not able to duplicate the issue. I picked it up last week from the repair shop and today it was the power steering that went out along with the usual dash panel function going out. I realize that this is an older Jeep but it seems Chrysler should still be responsible for the vehicle safety. Https://www.mcall.com/news/watchdog/mc-Jeep-Cherokee-dashboard-shutoff-ignition-recall-watchdog-20141213-column.html this article describes the exact issues I have seen repeatedly. Now that the loss of power steering and braking assist have both happened over the last several weeks while driving (supposedly fixed by the ignition switch recall), this Jeep is too dangerous to be on the road.

I was traveling to my daughters when the Jeep suddenly veered to the left. Crossed center line, hit guard rail and rolled three times down the highway. Luckily no cars were coming. My front drivers side fire was wedged in the guard rail. I was upside down and managed to undo my seat belt and crawl out back broken window. The man behind me wrote a letter telling me how he was just following me and I just lost control, he's the one who called 911 and said he was checking for "survivors". this was a sunny June morning, nothing on the road. Its like the Jeep had a mind of its own. After surgery on my shoulder and trying to get back to work, I was forced to go on disability. I wish I would have known about this recall years ago. My life has changed because of it. The Jeep was a total loss of course.this accident happened about 10 miles West of iron river, mi on us-2. this whole thing has changed my life forever.

Randomly, my car wouldn't start and I would think that the battery went dead. Then, another Jeep owner told me to put my foot on the brake and jiggle the shifter, and that it should work. This worked and after about a year of utilizing this work around, the car felt like it was slipping in between gears as I was driving. It felt like it was fishtailing, however I would see the auto-steering and ABS lights pop up on the dashboard and it felt like the car was losing control. I took it to several mechanics whom would check the starter, realign, do more random testing and the problem persisted. After thousands of dollars and hours spent trying to identify the issue, I eventually received a recall notice in the mail telling me that there was indeed a major issue, however the part needed to correct it was unavailable and more needed to be manufactured. It also stated that I shouldn't drive the vehicle, but rent a car until the part was available and that the cost would be reimbursed eventually, once a part was available to repair the issue. I could not afford to rent a car for an unknown amount of time... and the part remained unavailable for the duration of the time that I owned it. I tool it to a mechanic at one point, explained to them about the recall which they were familiar with, and they replaced my starter, hoping that this would make the car "safer" until the part was available. It did help, however did not rectify the issue. By the time the part became available, I had already spent thousands trying to fix it and had traded it in to a dealership when I took on a lease. Now it doesn't seem to matter how much money I spent trying to fix the issue prior to the part being available as they are only willing to reimburse you for the specific recall itself. Maybe had I been calling them from a hospital room as a result of an accident, they would feel differently.

I bought my vehical used in June. (2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with 160,000 miles) I took it back to dealer where they told me the battery had issues and they "fixed" the problem. I'd be driving and if I came to a stop I would lose all power and my engine would turn off. At a drive through, it would die, at a stop light, die. In October my issues started up again. Now the same things are happening but every light on the dash lights up, flashes/flutter/flickers, headlights shut off, radio shuts off, HVAC system shuts off, but engine will run for about 20min then I lose all power where ever I am, I'll be driving down the highway going 55mph and the engine shuts off. Pulling into the store engine shuts off. On my way to work engine just shut off while going down the highway. Coasted as far as I could to get to a safe place to stop. Now it won't start again.

Received the recall notice and contacted porterville Chrysler. Despite the recall notice about increased risk of occupant injury as well as the potential to cause a collision without warning, they said they had no parts to replace the ones causing the issue, and they had no idea when they would. They claim to have had parts on order for over a year but none have been received and that they could not help me out by complying with the recall notice.

Vehicle has stalled while in drive at various speeds, in reverse or idling at a stop. This issue has been ongoing for over 2 years - has been brought to the dealership; was never told there was a recall on the ignition switch until I brought recently to midas for the above issues. They advised the engine shuts off due to the ignition switch being faulty. There has also been occasions that the ABS seems to engage while in drive, typically occurs when turning. Unknown if this is associated with the faulty ignition switch. Was told by Chrysler that the recalled part would be available as of September 11, 2015 - it is still not available. This vehicle is unsafe to drive.

I was driving to work down an incline/hill on 9/2, there was traffic ahead, the engine shut off and the breaks locked. I pulled the E-break and swerved off the side of the road, luckily without any crash. I was able to restart the vehicle but had a tow truck tow it to my local mechanic who verified there was no problem with the breaks, and notified me of the recall P41 on the ignition switch which can cause the engine to shut off and power steering and breaks to lock while driving. The Jeep dealership told me not only are the parts not available but they don't know when they will be available and they can't diagnose this as the problem without replicating the problem. This is a known issue so it is unclear to me why the issue would have to be replicated. I have a baby and do not want to drive this car, as recommended by Jeep customer service and the dealership, and risk accident to myself or others until the part is in and fixed. I can't believe Jeep would ask me to continue driving this vehicle not only knowing there is a risk but an actual problem. I think it's fair that Jeep provide me with a safe alternative form of transportation in the meantime.

I bought my 06 Jeep in March of 2015 and had problems with it ever since. First incident happend right after I bought car. Pulled in to mcdonalds drive through and steering wheel locked up on me and dashboard lights lite up all of them. Scared the crap out of me. Same things happened at least 6 other times where the steering wheel would lock up and truck would shut off. I was sitting at a stop light when the dashboard lights lit up and then truck died. Truck will appear to be racing at times when I barly hit gas.I had my 5 year old granddaught with me and the truck shut off while I was driving going about 45 miles. I never was so scared in my life. All I could image was me and my precious granddaughter dying. I was so scared, I could not drive for a day or two to settle my nerves. Please help !!!!!. I think that Chrysler needs to pay for rentals till issue is fixed or have trucks replaced before someone dies. !!!!!!!
