This vehicle has been to the dealer and corporate has been notified. The situation starts when the weather is below freezing or snowing then turns to rain. The sunroof drain does not work properly causing water to pour out of the center ceiling map lights, the garage door control panel, the driver side column, and the handle to get into the vehicle. This causes a major distraction while driving and also can cause severe electrical damage, water damage to the interior and mold/mildew build up.. corporate claims they know nothing about this situation however currently there is a class action lawsuit vs Chrysler corporation regarding this issue with many different models with the same issue. This situation only occurs during the extreme cold weather change and precipitation. The dealer and Jeep have no answer to rectify this problem.

The sun roof on mt Jeep has leaked for over 2 years. Leaks into the car thru the side arms located by the window and the main top thru the lights onto the radio/console. No one wants to help. When it pours, it leaks heavy. If it rains throughout the day, it doesn't leak as heavy. Snow, does the same thing..

Enough issues that a class action suit in New Jersey for this exact matter is in process. Faulty sunroof rear drain tubes become pinched, looped, or otherwise unable to drain away water. When water comes forward (as in braking on the freeway and narrowly averting an accident) water comes down and through the a pillars and overhead console, and other areas of headliner. A bit startling when traveling in rush hour traffic on the freeway. After reading about the countless stories of other owners experiencing the same thing, I began contacting dealerships including the out of area dealership where the vehicle was bought used in December 2011. It became apparent that there would be no relief and I would bear most if not all of the cost of the repair of this design flaw that can create very unsafe driving conditions and cause accidents.

2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee - I have had surfboards cause the factory roof rack to actually tear through the metal roof due to having no reinforcement around the bolts that attach the factory roof rack to the roof of the car. This occurred on the NJ garden state parkway at legal parkway speed. Had my two surfboards gone through someone's windshield it could have been a deadly accident. I have surfed for 45 years and never had this problem with any other car. I told the dealer that they should take notice for corrective action to Chrysler but they were not interested in doing so. Chrysler has photographs of the failure as they had to get approval to cover the repair under warranty. They did repair the car under warranty. I was told that they reinforced with larger washers on both sides of the front part of the racks, but I do not have proof that they did and I do not trust them. I now strap my boards both to the rack and a safety strap through the passenger compartment. I should not have to do this. Chrysler has tv ads that show surfboards mounted on the factory racks of their vehicles. Which is implied acceptable use. This may be common practice with all manufacturers, but it is in fact a practice on this specific vehicle. This issue would apply to any object on the roof that would be similar to a surfboard; canoes, kayaks, storage pods.

There is a large gap in the instrument cluster on the surface of the dashboard. Under most lighting conditions, except for complete darkness, there is a pronounced reflection that causes a distraction for the driver. The reflection extends through the drivers line of sight up the middle of the windshield.
